Thank you Michelle! We love it to… summer took forever to get here in these parts but now it’s in full swing. The pine trees are so fragrant! Hope life is lovely on the island! xo
@@KateBenz Glad you are enjoying the summer. Life on this island is very, very hot and unbearable. In all of my years of life here, the heat has never been this torturous I really do envy you. Since I was a child I dreamed of living in the woods. There are days I wish so much I had this life, especially with my career. Social work often leads us in the helping profession down some pretty ugly paths and there are times I feel that only nature can heal the vicarious traumas. Nature is so healing. You are lucky.
I have been wearing primarily natural fibers since my teens. I have treated many well and delicately and still have quite a few pieces that I have owned since my teens--at least those not my former size 00. I have always loved the feel of natural fibers, even when I was not aware of fast fashion. Treated well these clothes can be timeless and last a very long time. Granted my bathroom and hall always have wet clothes around, but that also saves energy. I think you are doing a great job with bringing new brañds to our attention and still helping people to use the natural fiber clothes that are already in their wardrobe to expand their use, rather than discard. I found an amazing mildly puffed sleeve blouse made of cotton at Target last night that I will wear for years and will fit right in with my better clothes. .
I love it! I’m in the same boat as you… even the clothes I bought previously from places like Target and Old Navy are really standing the test of time with the extra care put into their washing/drying. Our laundry room always looks like a wet clothes bomb went off Ha ha. I want to get one of those vintage drying racks to save on space. And thank you for the kind words! xo
I’m not completely at peace with my closet but I don’t hate it. I recently got a brand new pair of Paige and Hudson jeans for $30 each on Thred up. I definitely started checking materials and concerned about fast fashion. I feel bad about all the mistakes I’ve made over the years. I don’t want excessive amounts of stuff.
Oh wow, what an amazing deal! You’ve inspired me to check thredUP more often. And I wouldn’t feel bad. Fashion is a tricky business, and we all do the best we can. I mean, better late than never, right? xo
Hi! Thank you so much. And yes, we live in a modern cabin in the middle of the woods. Honestly, our dream is to have a very small cabin on a massive tract of land, but we certainly love and cherish what we have now. So, I’ll try to get something in the works. I think it would be fun xo
@@KateBenz thank you!!! It will be greatly appreciated. My favorite things in life are fashion and houses. 😁 I been following you from quite some time, since your stitch fix stylist days and also requested you as my stylist and you did me a fix a few months before you left. I was happy. Keep enjoying your cabin life for many years to come. 😊
How do you reconcile your love of athletic wear with your desire for all-natural fiber clothing? I can’t stand athletic wear because it always has polyester and Spandex, even if there is some cotton in it. I wear cotton knit trousers or leggings on cold days, but we have mild winters where I live, so they’re warm enough. I finally found a 100% cotton white hoodie (Eileen Fisher), but haven’t had much luck finding other athletic wear with that composition. Any brands or tips for this all-natural fiber wearer would be appreciated.❤
Hi! Yeah, that’s a tricky one. To be honest, the organic cotton leggings I found in the past just do not hold up as well, even with air drying them and washing on the delicate cycle. Quince has leggings made from recycled, plastic water bottles, which I love. And I have found 100% cotton hoodies from Los Angeles apparel that are divine. They’re also made in the USA. They do offer leggings, so I think I will try them next, because they are primarily cotton with maybe a smidge of spandex thrown in. Hope that helps! xo
First I have to say this was an awesome video. I saved so I can rewatch it and take notes. I’m really trying to learn to be content with my wardrobe. I’ve struggled for so long being content with what I like and drowning out the noise of the “buy everything”, “don’t where this” type of stuff. This was definitely a huge help. Definitely recommend people watch this and even take notes before purging or buying.
You and me both, sister! Honestly, sometimes it’s an hourly struggle. So know you are in good company haha. Thank you for the kind words, too. I really appreciate it xo
