How to Create a Yahoo App Password 

You may need to enable Two-Step Authentication as well. I believe Gmail added that requirement to their system. The Generate App Password should be toward the bottom of the page. You may also direct message me and we can compare screenshots so I can see what you are seeing. - James

Kelly Heading-Reed I use the major browsers (Firefox, safari, chrome, edge) for testing. This video uses Firefox. Browser shouldn’t matter. I was able to find Account security on them all. You first need to click your name or initial in the upper right corner and then choose “Settings”. From there you should see Account Settings in the menu on the left. @@lothillsolutions I have the same, click on my name I only get , Add or manage account and sign out. No list like you, I have found security, but when I click this it redirects me to my inbox.

Thank you for the feedback. To remove go to the Manage App Passwords, just like you would to generate a password the click the trash icon to the right of the password you would like to remove. See this video around the 3:33 mark.

Per Google: This setting is not available for accounts with 2-Step Verification enabled. Such accounts require an application-specific password for less secure apps access. Basically, it sounds like you have 2-Step Verification enabled which is great! To add an app password you should see that option on the security page. Here is a shortcut to the app password page: myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

Can You Sign Into Yahoo With The Password Your Phone Number?

Removing an app password does not lock you out of your yahoo account. This is an extra password that you can set up for use in different applications. If you have an application that uses one of these extra passwords, you would lose access to your email only within the application that uses that particular password. Again, removing an extra password does not affect your main yahoo account access.

@@lothillsolutions Thank you very much for your answer. What you say is totally right. I thought of that right a couple of minutes later, but I finally decided not to remove my question. It might be useful to someone else. Please, I would also like your help in next two questions. a. If someone has two Yahoo accounts that works from a different application, I mean in the same application both Yahoo accounts, then how many third-party passwords must he/she create? b. Has Yahoo last couple of months send to its account members any notice mail messages to create third-party application passwords to replace the existing ones? Because existing passwords from third-party applications will be supported until October 20? Thank you!

I think you can use the same app password for multiple programs. It just depends on how secure you want to be. I ha e not seen any notifications from yahoo though I do not use them often. Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I’m happy to help.

Thank you for reaching out. What’s not working? Can you not find the App Password section? Did you enable TFA first? Any detail you can provide would be helpful.
