A recent update was made in Power Apps where "Result" is now "Value". Concept showcased in video works the same. Simply replace "Result" with "Value"

Hi Reza, Thanks for this wonderful video. Can you share video on cascading between dropdown and people picker field? Where on click from 1st Drop Down(Department), the people picker field(Managers Name) will cascade its options. Source is SharePoint list. I tried but unable to build connection between Active Directory.

Thanks Reaz, Very helpful. One question I had was can we make the cascading drop-down combo box as multi-select? I have a situation where the first drop down is single select and the options in the second dropdown should cascade based on first drop-down. Additionally the user should be able to select multiple options from the combo box. When I tried this, only the last selected choice is transferred to the Sharepoint on submitting the form and not the others.

Great Video! Quick Question. Last I checked, the Distinct function is not delegable to SP. Have you found a way around this delegation issue?
@RezaDorrani

I would organize the cascading data list differently to avoid delegation. I would have a separate list for the countries (directly query that in Power Apps). And then create a lookup column on the country list to set the country values.

I know that for single line text, we use "Distinct" function and choices column in SharePoint we can use "Choices" function in PowerApps. How r u, Reza? Ismaila here from NYC. This is precisely what I had been looking for. Just wanted to bring to your attention that if 2 countries like the US & Canada had states of the same name, this particular example would be flawed. Is there a way to perfect it taking consideration of that?

Another option would be to design it using lookup column. I do not have a video reference on that scenario though. I recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.

Combo box is limited to 2k records. For large list scenarios, use a gallery and allow user to select from gallery.

Thank you Reza... Very helpful as always! Two quick questions. I've tried this using collections in both dropdowns (because both the parent and child are Choice columns in SP), but no success. "Sort(Distinct..." works, but do you know if the dependency can be done for collections? Also, what if the SP column you want to use as the parent does not appear in your Matching Field Result options? Thanks again... You are Truly Appreciated Reza!

BOOM... GOT IT!!!@@RezaDorrani knowing that IT COULD be done, I kept trying! For the 2nd collection (in the child dropdown "DropdownOutputPlan") coming from the list "2. Planning", my 1st collection (in the parent dropdown "DropdownProcessPlan") came from a column called "Process", the second collection came from a column called "Output". Here's what worked, perfectly: Distinct( Filter('2. Planning', Process.Value = DropdownProcessPlan.Selected.Result),Output.Value). Thanks so much Reza... God Bless Brother!!!
