medium pressure at 400 degrees F for 480 seconds. If I don’t have the felt can use the soft padding that came with my machine. Also do you have to do it with the paper on the bottom? Upside down? Why is that?

Do you really need the felt or can u use the foam pad that came with the heat press?

Hi Terri! The silicone pad that comes with the heat press would be too hard of a texture for these slates.

Hi there! For outdoor use, we would recommend blanks with coating meant for the outdoors.

So the heating element is on the backside of the slate? I have been doing it with the face side up and it keeps messing up. Lol.

Hi Katie! Yes, for slates and aluminum panels, we recommend pressing them facing down due to the way heat conducts on these materials.

I have a bunch of black stone slate coasters I 'd love to do but they are solid black. Do I have to buy a special kind with the white surface? or can I simply paint the surface white?

We definitely recommend using the photo slates with the white surface that are coated for sublimation. Other products may not take the sublimation transfer.

I’m printing in Celsius at 200 and my finished product never comes out right. (Wasted 5 slates now) it always have an red tint to it, and the image doesn’t always fully transfer 😪😞 I’ve tried a range of times and heat and it’s worked for one and made it look better but still is a red tint 😩 have you got any ideas on why it comes out like this?

i have the sawgrass 400 and i am having a hard time printing to size. my slate is 11.25 x 7.25 when i click on print its making it too small to fit on the slate .. how do i print according to size of slate or any substate?

We recommend using a heat press for these photo slates. While not impossible, they can be difficult to customize with a handheld press due to the time required for a complete transfer.

In this video we are using Illustrator, but you can use almost any graphic design software to create your images. Some of the most popular programs for sublimation are Photoshop, CorelDraw, Affinity, and GIMP. If you have a Sawgrass printer, you can take advantage of Sawgrass' free online design program called CreativeStudio.
