Thank you for this tutorial and explaining all the different hair settings. Ive gone through so many tutorials and I appreciate your thorough explanation for each hair setting. Much appreciated!
Best hair tutorial so far! Btw 10:29 you can use the "interpolate" option in tool to add new hair shaped approximately following the closest strands :D And as always, blender is already working on a new hair system so this video is up-to-date for only about a year *at best* 😅
Its amazing! Thank you very much i managed to create my first hair for my character! 😭 I thought it was hard! Thanks, one of the best tutorials on the internet, subbed!
You're the only blender guru i'm going to watch from now on. I have tried so many tutorials on how to create hair and this one jsut hit the nail on the head. Clear directions to the point, explained quickly with exceptional articulation. Just brilliant. Thank you so much.
This tutorial is a perfect example of how to make tutorials. Imagine if all people will be like you! We can study everything and then spend time to create art or just have fun. Not wasting 80% of time to find small pieces of outdated information
Wow, just WOW. This is sooo nice to watch and it's amazing. 0:08 - You: _First, I'm gonna explain the particle system . . ._ Me: _Uuhh, this thing is still scarying me, but, OOOKKK, I'll watch._ And then, your explanation was so on point, so detailed, but still, so pleasant to follow, that it just made me laugh at myself for being scared. 0:56 - You: _In the render properties, while you're using EEVEE . . ._ Me: _Oh yes, the render properties, those that make the biggest difference, but are rarely mentioned._ And, there you go, you explained them as well. 3:18 - You: _Now for the vertex group._ Me: _Yeees, the vertex group is reeeally useful and I enjoy watching others using it._ And you did, you've used it like a charm. 3:24 - You: _Go to weight paint mode and paint whatever you like._ Me: _Wow, it's getting even better._ _Hey, wait, is that . . . Dickey Mouse?_ _Heey, how are you my booooy?_ But you wiped out Dickey Mouse and settled for a . . . boomerang and. . . Zorroooo. It's more appropriate for Dickey Mouse to have hair than for a boomerang, you know. Zorro, of course, he has hair, but he's wearing that mask of his AND the hat and they cover all of the hair. 5:55 - You: _Now let's create this beautiful and easy hairstyle._ Me: _Dang, that looks really nice to even someone like me who isn't really a fan of such hairstyle._ But again, you've made it, you've made it look very very good. 7:09 - You: _Aaand now, we are ready to groom._ Me: _OK, surely now it's when it gets complicated._ But incredibly, in a blink of my eyes and a swing of your *brush*, the hair was 80% in it's natural place. 11:10 - You call that decent? I call that, *mind blowing*. And now, after watching your wonderful show, I'm lying on chair with my head leaning back and I'm thinking: Wow, just WOW. Seeing how people are flooding you with requests to do this and to do that, I'll make a request as well: ENJOY LIFE. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - I know, I know, that's not the best symbolization of a hug, but I did my best. Thank you very much for making this. Cheers. :)
Bro, you just made my day with this comment :D i will andrew, thanks for the kind words and glad you found the video helpful, also thanks for the hug, needed that :D hope you didn't have covid tho lol.
@@PixelicaCG You're welcome. In fact, it was my pleasure to write something which might express at least a little gratefulness. When you are in need of a hug, wait for the moment when you see someone who needs it even more than you and GIVE that someone, a hug. Do it consciously and It will envelop you with the feeling of compassion. If you choose to do this as often as possible, from the feeling of compassion, the acknowledgment of the fact that you are down only because you choose to focus on everything that you don't want to experience in life, will arise. If you begin to focus on what's truly worthy in life, you'll receive the ability to understand what thing is what and you'll get to even know what the so called COVID, actually is. And speaking of it, nah, I've never bothered receiving it, despite the desperate struggle of those who made it, to spread FEAR of it around the entire planet. Cheers.🤗
Your hair tutorials are quick and simple. I've got some experience in modeling but am a rookie at haircuts and it took me just a day with your videos to make a somewhat decent haircut.
I love your videos, you pull the viewers through so much information! I literally need to slow the speed of the videos down to halfway so I can take notes 😂
I still have to play the video at 50% speed, and sometime record parts to play it frame by frame to understand whats going on, but all the info I need is there thanks a million
Hands down the best hair tools tutorial I've come across so far. Great explanation of the basic tools and settings with visual examples... and just a great job showing the process of combing the hair and adding multiple emitters.
This is the best video I've seen for hair. Cool tricks like using multiple particle systems, and vertex groups. Also I was having trouble with the hair going through my mesh. No more of that thanks to deflect emitter. Really freaking awesome dude.
Thank you! I'm new to Daz3d and so far i works good. But i wanted to make Oda from Cyberpunk but did not find the hair so i landed here to do it myself
Damnnn....I wish i found this tutorial earlier😭😭. Other tutorials were using path curve method and duplicating paths again and again, but as a beginner its bit tough. Thanks for the simple Hair Tutorial....
Hello! Awesome guide! Can you please tell me how to animate the hair correctly? If I press the "hair dynamic" button, the hair will fly all over the screen. Help me! ))
There are 2 ways to add hair. This (Particle system) is one of them. The other way to add hair is via Add->Curve->Empty Hair, then go to sculpting. The latter method allows for manual placement of hair strands
The latter method utilizes modifiers to manipulate the hair, whereas the particle system the sliders are already built-in. In conclusion, the particle system seems to be easier
Great great hair tutorial thanks for sharing. Request, Is it possible to do an African American braided hair style tutorial with this same tool? If not, could you point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
Hi! I'm hoping to look for advice on this problem I'm currently having. My interpolated hairs are all spread out and some are seemingly coming from nowhere and have no controls despite fixing weight paint and pulling together to style any clue?
So, having very little luck with getting animated hair on a figure. When I hit play, the hair flies into the air and contorts as if the character was standing in a funnel cloud. Is there a way to make this NOT happen?
I am sure this is a great tutorial, given the responses and comments below, but already at the beginning when I add a mesh cylinder and remove the Z from a 1.0 to 0.0 to make it flat as yours is, when I add the particle system it just goes black; it doesn't show the hair strands that yours does. I am assuming I am doing something wrong already but I am not sure what. Can you explain? Cheers
I have a really hard time getting the hair to go the way I want it to during the combing stage, especially for long hair. It's just very different from brushing hair in real life. Do you have a video with tips and tricks for that specifically?
Amazing tutorial! One of the best out there for Blender hair! I get nasty lots of nasty speckled white dots whenever I render hair with Eevee. Does any one know of a solution to this? The only solution I found was switching to Cycles, but I would still like to find a fix for Eevee since the renders are faster and I don't always need the highest fidelity in my renders. I think it has something to do with the secularity, but when I turn it off completely the hair loses that nice shiny look. Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi. Thanks for the great tut. I did have a question though. I noticed that you don't use a separate polygon hair-cap when creating your hair. Is that just a personal choice, or is there another reason? I'm concerned about being able to import the hair into Unreal, but I am unsure of whether a separate hair-cap is necessary or not. Thanks!
thanks so much, can you help me with this?, what if you need the hair has different colors, maybe 6 or 7, do u recomend to add other particle systems with different vertex gruopus each one?
Hi there. I'm using blender 3.5.1 and my hair kink frequency isn't working like this. When I increase he value past 10 it also stops making any notable changes to the particle system. Did anything change?
I always have some issues with hair going through the mesh even with deflect distance high. Sometimes it will straight up go the wrong way, growing into the head, other times it just curves through the skull leaving visible bald spots. Normals are correct. I'm wondering if this is a topology issue, hair settings issue or if the hair system has some issues. Or maybe it's scaling issue, I know the water particle system does not work well on small scales.
@@onemansymphony No, but I think it has to do with mesh density. If it had enough polygons it seemed to work better. To prevent bald spots I figured out I could keep the deflect distance too high on purpose, then once everything is sculpted to place I reduce it then slowly lower the hair so it looks realistic. It doesn't seem to like when you sculpt large parts of the hair at once, it's better to work in sections. It should prevent hair from being dragged under the scalp.
@@Jmvars Thank you for your response I appreciate it. In my case having more mesh density didn't help. I'll either use a different method or probably look into using another software. I've been to many forums with similar complaints to fix the issue but no avail.
