I know finished my crochet project with the second mercerized cotton yarn that I recently purchased, and it turned out great!
I used 100% mercerized cotton yarn, category 3, light weight.
Specifically, I used Yarnsprations Patons Grace yarn, color Natural, 6 skeins, 816 yards or 300 grams.
I purchased this yarn on Amazon (affiliate link): amzn.to/3dvb5IY
Crochet hook size E (3.5 mm) on Amazon (affiliate link): amzn.to/3Jzd8re
Crochet hook size D (3.25 mm) on Amazon (affiliate link): amzn.to/3bxeMwX
The written pattern is available in my Etsy and Ravelry shops:

Mines turned out beautifully as a table runner. I wanted to make it as a head covering but the wool I used was to heavy probably have to use a fingering yarn. Love the pattern so happy I purchased it. Although I needed to half the flowers at the end but still turned out beautiful!

The shawl is magnificent! If you decide to make a summer top with this pattern, will you give us a tutorial for it, a well? Also, I'm not sure how to ask this question... Hmm, in the second row of the 4 flowers (from the tutorial) is there a way to start another flower? There would be less lace and more flowers. Then, its might cover better as a top. Does that make sense? The flowers would have to connect in some places. I wish I could sit down with you so I could show you what I'm thinking. 🤔 I hope I described it enough for you to understand what I'm asking. Thank you for the tutorial and whether you keep the shawl or take it out and make your top, I know it's something you will enjoy and be proud to wear. You do such beautiful work! ❤️🧶 Blessing to you and as always, I'm praying for the people in Ukraine. ❤️
@OlgaPoltava
@OlgaPoltava 2 года назад
Yes, if my summer blouse turns out the way I want it, I will make a video! I think I know what you mean by making the crochet fabric be less lace and more flowers, but I can't really think of how to and where work that extra flower. It would be wonderful to sit down together, have some tea, share ideas/visions on crochet and work it out together!

FYI In your written instructions (which I purchased) it states for Row 4; after you finish all 9 un-tr you have: ch4 and “tr2” vs the “un-tr2” in the video. The same is true for Row 5. You write (tr3`tog,ch1) pull tight, ch5, tr3-tog,ch1. the tr3 should all be un-tr3. I am just on Row 5 so I don’t know if this is true throughout the rest of the written instructions.

Hello Olga! Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern of yours! I’m so appreciative of your generosity! I have encountered a problem with the length. I started off with 90 inches in chain, then it just shrunk each row after the first row of flowers. Why is that? Please help; thank you.
@OlgaPoltava
@OlgaPoltava 11 месяцев назад
Do you mean the entire piece shrunk or do you mean it's getting shorter with each additional row of flowers (and the piece has a shape of a trapezoid)? If it's the formal, it should go back to the original length after you block it. If it's the latter, it means you are losing stitches in each row.
@KingdomWarrior633

It's a bit too full of holes for a blouse, if you ask me, but it would make a nice vest. Have the two sides of the front in the flowery stitches and do the back of the vest in the slotted rows that you started with. Whaddya think?

@@OlgaPoltava well then I know I have good taste, if you like it too. Edit: I just had a "duh" moment! As a blouse, one could wear or attach an inner shell of unbleached muslin or dyed to match the yarn bleached muslin in a thin gauzy weight, just to hide the bra a bit more than just trying to wear a skin -toned bra color. You can't always find one that fits well, that doesn't look industrial enough to be a compliment to a lacy blouse, and if you're fat, who wants to see fat rolls through a lacy yarn blouse? I don't want to see my own, much less others'.

@mireah
@mireah 2 года назад
I think, that if you do a sample size like she had done here, you need to chain 53 and then starting in the 2nd chain from your hook, do 51 double crochets. next row will be double crochet, chain 1 then double crochet, then the 3rd row is another 51 double crochets. If you're not sure, try doing a sample first then go for the larger projects. I wish I did that more often when starting, as I'd have less frustrations with my early work. I'm still poor at reading patterns so I understand where you're coming from. When you do the full size like Olga has done, she's done 273 chains and 271 double crochets. ..... I think I'm right in my calculations, but if I'm wrong I hope some one corrects my maths before I try my sample :D

The only way I could think of is making a couple of rows of flowers, then a couple of rows with double crochets, increasing the stitch count in the second row. Then again a few rows of flowers, and a few rows of dc increasing the stitch count.

@OlgaPoltava
@OlgaPoltava 2 года назад
@@sueannesullivan3827 Oh, I'm so used to unraveling LOL. In my teenage years back in Ukraine, I crocheted and knitted my sweaters and summer tops. Those were the 90s, very harsh times, and my family was poor. So I would knit/crochet myself a garment, wear it for a season, then the next year I would unravel it and use the same yarn to make a totally new design/style garment. I want to crochet myself a blouse combining this stitch and another one, so it would be somewhat complicated. But I wanted to share this design/pattern with my viewers in a simple form, so they can use this stitch for whatever project they choose. Thank you so much for your support of my crochet work!
