Another great video to watch this day. Always enjoy them. Enjoy your week at work, and hello to the Ladies of the house. See you on the next, Gareth! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Hi Martin, good to hear from you, hope you are doing OK? All good here, ladies are OK. Took mila to a farm yesterday at a beautiful place called Chatsworth. Back in the office today (Monday morning) for another long week in the office
Great vid Gareth and great way of recoverin from a long night out. Wonderful to see your family visitin while you were out! Very nice finds there! The cartwheel penny - excellent!
Hi mate, yeah bit of sunshine and blue sky is pretty good for a hangover, better than lying in bed feeling sorry for yourself haha. I ended up with some interesting finds. That permission is a 5 minute walk from my house, so very handy
Hi mate, yeah it turned out to be a pretty decent haul. That place is heavily water logged at the moment, targets are drying up. But its so handy as its only a 5 minute walk from my house. Thanks as always for watching. G
Hi mate, I can confirm metal detecting is awesome for a hangover haha! The weather was absolutely amazing so could not turn down my 1 and only opportunity that weekend. Apologies for the slow reply, catch you on the next one. G
Great day out even if you were a bit under the weather. Congrats on the cartwheel. The lead token was a beaut and very cabinet worthy. Glad you had a good time out and a special moment with your daughter. Take care mate 😁👍
Hi Andrew, it was awesome to do a bit of detecting with my daughter, our first time, and that Cartwheel penny the first coin we ever found together. Thanks as always for tuning in all the way from down under. G
Hi Dave, it is a good job weddings don't come round very often, I'm not a big drinker and I'm not very sociable - much prefer my own company in a field in the middle of nowhere haha
Hi mate as always thanks for your very kind words. It was nice to have my family there with me for 30 minutes or so. Maybe mila will join me more often the bigger ands stronger she gets. Thanks for tuning in. G
Looks like the day turned out well. I love it when giant cartwheels come out of the ground. Mila's hair is almost as long as mine. Too bad we didn't get to see anything of Sarah but her legs.
Helloo, it did turn out to be a great little session, and was awesome to have my daughter join me. This permission is only 5 minute walk from my house, so handy. I'll make sure Sarah gets 20 seconds of fame next time :) Thanks as always for watching
Hi mate, thanks as always for coming along. Not a bad Cartwheel that was, had another one last weekend. I seem to find a LOT of these coins, common here in Derbyshire. Catch you on the next one. G
The details on those seals are awesome Gareth. Nice that your daughter turned up It looks like she enjoyed it. Well done on the cartwheel penny always nice to find. And the pendant was a nice find. Remember it was self inflicted but you cured your hangover in the fields. Until the next one take care.
Hi John, yes mate I love finding those bag seals, they are always so crisp, preserved beautifully in that wet ground. I can conclude metal detecting with a hangover is not great, but when its the only time you get to go metal detecting in an entire week, and the weather is like like, YOU TAKE IT :) Thanks as always for watching. G
The lead man returns 😄Great video Gareth. At least you brought water this time. Great to see you and the little one. So cute. Hangovers are never good. Had one Saturday morning there and went on a boys day in Oxford the same morning. Luckily it was a short lived affliction 😉 All the best buddy.
Hi mate, the lead man haha!! Thanks, yeah water was the first thing that went in my backpack! It was warm, sunny and dry, such a beautiful day, I had to get out there even with a hangover!! Day in Oxford sounds good, never been, meant to be a nice city. Catch you on the next one buddy. G
Helloo, yes definitely good for a hangover been out in that beautiful weather. It was amazing, the second Mila turned up I got the most amazing signal, and it was that big Cartwheel penny. I'll keep that aside for her - our first coin found together :) Thanks as always for watching. G
Hi mate, yeah I agree, found some really cool and interesting items. This permission is only a 5 minute walk from my house, so was nice to be joined by my family for half hour in the sunshine. Thanks as always for watching. G
Another brilliant video Gareth. Lovely to see your daughter out with you. I took my grandson detecting on the beach in Prestatyn last week and he loved it. He found a small hallmarked silver ring and was over the moon. Plus it made my life easier as he dug all my holes 😂. Good luck on all your future digs my friend.
Hi Brian, thanks as always for watching and for your kind words. It was nice to spend some time metal detecting with my daughter. Still a bit too young/small to be taking out properly, she's be a nightmare haha. Congrats to your son for finding a silver ring. Catch you on my next episode. G
Hi there, thanks so much for visiting my channel and for taking time out of your day to watch this video, I really appreciate it. I work really hard on my channel and the content I upload, it makes me very happy to see people are watching and leaving me comments. It inspires me to continue doing what I do. If you haven’t already, then I would recommend you watch this video next which shows 2 of my best ever gold finds found on consecutive weekends on the same field: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VasQozqHfyo.htmlsi=lsoIIZsz_q2_wYmW Thanks again, and I very much hope to see you on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos on my channel. Gareth
Awesome! I pretty much gave up on drinking. I used to get drunk every Friday night then daisy came and I was always worthless at no matter what I did. I'm glad you had a great day!
Hi there, thanks so much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. I very rarely drink now as I do not like to be hungover on a weekend. But sometime yano it just happens! Thanks again and I hope to see you again on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos
Gareth, wonderful day to be out with your beautiful daughter. That clean air will help clear the senses. Great token, seals and the Cartwheel penny. I don’t have bag seals in my area, but I do get saloon tokens. Love those big coppers you find. They would be like finding a hubcap. Interesting pendant as well. Always fun to find jewelry and buttons. Thanks for taking us along on your outing… John
Hi John, ye it was really nice to have some detecting time with mila. The weather conditions were incredible, I could not sit at home hungover, had to get out there. And I did make some cool finds. Thanks as always for watching and for the support, catch you on the next one. G
Hahah ohh yes, had a fair few pinty's, a couple gin & tonics, few shots, proper merry!! Thanks as always for taking time out your day to watch what I create. G
Ayup Gary how are you doing mate? Thanks for tuning in and checking this one out. I can confirm in the last 2 weekends I have taken my silver count from 3 to 7 !!! Had 2 amazing sessions on a brand new permission
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire well I've just picked up 70 acres of undetected grass fields in Monmouth,so looking forward to the weekend, I found 2 rings and a bracelet this week but all plated gold and only enough gold to say what it was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Haha well next time I thought about doing a summer Friday or Saturday summer evening and taking an 8 pack of beer n get drunk while metal detecting haha
Hi, thanks very much for visiting my channel and watching this video. Yeah the pip boy watch face is cool isn't it? My watch is a Garmin Forerunner 745, there's loads of different faces you can swap between. I liked this one cuz its cool. Hope to see you on my channel again
A great days detecting once again and a great day detecting with your daughter, helping out. That blue pendant thing, I found a button exactly like that with the blue stone thing a few years back on a beach I thought it maybe victorian because the beach was used quite a lot in Victorian period, I'm not 100% sure though. Hope you and the family are well and keep up the great work as always
Hi Sam, thanks for watching this one mate, apologies for the slow reply. Yeah I would guess Georgian, but I'm not 100% sure. All good here, how are you guys? I'm not gonna be doing much metal detecting over the coming weeks as its holiday season!!
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire hi Gareth, all good here just got back Monday from a weekend away in Evesham with some brilliant weather. You going away then, where abouts are you going
@@sammiles849 Yes mate I am off to Center Parcs this weekend. Then off to Canada in June for 2 weeks, followed by a couple of weekenders in Amsterdam and Blackpool. Going to be very busy and very expensive. Very little time for metal detecting or my channel. Hopefully will get something uploaded by Friday this week
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire oh wow, that's very nice, your definitely gonna be very busy, hope you enjoy your holidays, I'm going to Wales in may half term in a few weeks which should be good, gonna get abit of detecting in hopefully
Ooo I have lost count how many times I have used my metal detector more or less like a crutch. On those days I also need a driver, I dunno what rules UK got but in Norway its illegal to even ride a bicycle under the influence, not that police would check offcourse unless you run someone down. (but I stay on the safe side) However the nature and finds always clear my mind in the end. That pendant was a beauty! And great to see your daughter supporting you ❤
Hi mate, I was replying to another of your comments, but I accidentally closed the page down and now I don't know which comment it was or on which video, so it may never get a reply now sorry. Think you said something like "one day you win the jackpot one day you don't, but we keep buying a ticket".. I can confirm it is also considered drink driving here on a bike, I think anyway!! Thanks as always for your support and apologies for the slow reply. As always I work my way through oldest to newest comments, currently 6 weeks behind !!
Hi mate, yeah the weather was the deciding factor for me, I just had to get out there!! And made some pretty cool finds. Hair of the dog would have been a terrible idea hahaha
Hi mate , well it has to be said the Cart wheel was in good nick considering what they usually look like and your daughter looked more excited than you 😀 , i think the best find was the pendant i love finding old jewellery regardless of what it's made from and i have never found anything that cures a hang over apart from not getting one in the first place 😂 , another great effort pal nice one ATB Rob .
Hi mate, you are 100% right there, best way to avoid a hangover - NOT DRINK haha. And that is something I do almost every weekend, just so I'm fit n healthy to go detecting. But sometimes when a wedding comes along, you av no choice haha
Hi Simon, as always thanks so much for coming along. I could easily have gone home, but I have to get content filmed and edited to upload to my channel :) Dedication :)
Helloo, I know, she's enormous now, she eats like a pig, constantly snacking, eating junk. She's tall and scrawny with a little pop belly haha. I hope to feature her on my channel more often. Thanks as always for watching
Love watching your videos Gareth 👍🏻 top job. I get real bad guts with a hangover and if I went out detecting with a hangover I'd be worried I'd fart and follow through! 🤣🤣 Tell you what, i wonder if they ever had sheep or cattle on that field? Because they probably all died from lead poisoning! 🤣🤣
Hi mate, thanks for your kind words. Haha I have experienced bad guts in the field once on a hot summers day - that was a terrible experience and one I want to forget!! There is a holy amount of lead in this field, to be honest most Derbyshire fields are full of the stuff - lead capital of the world
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I wonder if the sheep and cattle suffer from stomach cancer with all that lead! 🤣 The good thing about detecting and having bad guts is there is no one about and you have a spade 🤣🤣 all the best mate. Ryan.
Hi there, yeah it wasn't bad was it and the first coin I've ever found with my daughter :) Thanks very much for visiting my channel and for taking time out your day to watch this video
The ones you find are probably battered by 100 years of plough damage. These ones I'm turning up are crisp and in amazing condition. I've got them all together is a display tray n they look awesome! I was there yesterday and for the first time on that permission I didn't find any at all
Hi Stewart, haha ye you are probably right. Ye every game now is huge, Arsenal have some seriously tough games coming up, I am not confident, but one can hope, you never know what might happen!! Thanks as always for watching. G
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also, I just noticed instead of writing TOP TIP, I've put TOP TOP 🤦🤦🤦🤦 What an absolute stinker!! I'm usually very careful about spelling and stuff. Thanks for watching
Hahaha that is great advice to be fair! I'm too old for both to be fair, I like to feel fresh on a weekend morning so I can get out to metal detect. Thanks for watching
Ayup Paul, I am a big sufferer when it comes to hangovers, drinking more beer when hungover is a terrible idea haha. Go home definitely the best solution, but I need to make content for my channel, and this was the idea that I had in mind that day :)
Hi mate, yeah imagine if that pendant thing was gold or silver, it would have been incredible. I do indeed have a proper carbon lower stem. I had 2 imported from Australia. Cost me a pretty penny, but I'm a sucker for stuff like this. I got 1 for each coil, just shy of £100 for 2 stems shipped. Got it from a online shop called Detect-Ed
Hi Martin, haha thanks, I am always trying to come up with different ideas for my channel. I think one day I am going to go metal detecting and take an 8 pack of beer and get drunk while metal detecting!!
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire hahaha that'd be a laugh, I'm sure 😂 Your videos are great mate. You've helped inspire me, I've just bought a garrett 400i, and have my first permission, a 25 acre plot close to a roman settlement. I can't wait to get at it 😊
@@martinsanders5418 can't go wromg with a Garrett, I swung an AT Pro for several years, that thing found my best ever find - gold hammered. I wish you luck, those early months can be frustrating, stick at it. Always happy to help any way I can
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Ah thank you, that's most kind. Yes, from my research, I reckon the 400i is about the best for the budget. I've studied a lot, and I expect there to be learning curves. As a musician, I understand the patience side, and have no great expectations. Health and an excuse to get out in nature (I live right in the city, Nottingham), and a fascination for history, are the main drives, not fortune 😉 Not that I'd be opposed to a bit of good fortune though of course 😂😂
What did you have 2 pints? 😂I’d never of been able to do that on one of my hangovers pmsl. Cool video as ever though mate👏 love watching them every week
Haha I had at least 5 and several double gins that I can remember. I normally get horrific hangovers. The weather was just too nice not to go metal detecting that day. Thanks for your kind words and hope to see you on my next episode. G
Hi Shawn, cheers mate, had to get out in those glorious weather conditions. One a these days on that permission one a them mid tones is gonna be a stonker of a gold ring :)
Fingers crossed, mind ya I have been out the last three weeks on a permission and found silver on Deep HC with a few tweaks but land is drying up fast with the farmer banging crops in ,all the best buddy 👍
I want to start metal detecting, so I decided to buy a detector, pinpointer, shovel, and find bag. However they’re are all relatively cheap for metal detecting gear as I don’t have much money. So my question is will I miss out on a lot of older coins using a cheap detector?
Hello, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. Which metal detector did you buy? A lot like any hobby, the better kit you buy, the better you will do. I uploaded a video aimed at people just like you, it is my Beginners Guide To Metal Detecting and you can find it here if you wish: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UmR8OgI43uw.htmlsi=3oiw6l68LZeY_hIS I wish you luck in your new hobby, any more questions, fire away
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I don’t know what the detector is called but it cost me like £50, I have enough to buy like a £300-£500 detector but I want to get into it before spending a heavy amount on it you know?
@@FunShortsTV1963 understandable, bit if you have a poor performing machine, you will not find anything, therefore will not be able to get into the hobby. If that makes sense? I'd be looking at getting a Nokta Makro Score or a Minelab Vanquish. Great machines, and cheap
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yeah I get you mate, I absolutely adore history and holding these artefacts in your hands is my favourite thing ever so I may just have to pull the trigger on a better one. Thank you by the way for your swift and supportive replies, you’ve definitely gained a loyal subscriber in me
Question for you Gareth...are your pants water proof as well? Constantly kneeling on wet cold tends to really hurt my old knees! Also any chance you can let us know what settings you use? You have seemed to have mastered the Deus 2 and I'd love to know your settings! I am really close to buying my self one of these awesome machines and your videos have helped me come to that conclusion! Thanks for posting another awesome video! Mike in sunny Florida
Hi Mike, my trousers are not waterproof no, but they are pretty resistant to the elements. They were not cheap, cost me £90, but I don't mind paying for high quality branded outdoor clothing as I know it will serve its purpose and last me a long time. You might want to think about getting knee pads, although that is something I refuse to wear at my age (42). I only ever use Program 3 Sensi FT on my Deus 2, it does everything I need it to do. No alterations or anything. I sometimes flick to Deep HC or Relic, but I find Sensi FT picks up everything any other setting does. Hope this helps. Gareth
What a great thumbnail……sucked me in immediately. I can safely attest that detecting with a hangover is fraught with Issues…..but some good Top Top’s there mate (didn’t mention the typos 😉)…..and so nice to see Mila uncovering her treasure!
Hi Marcus, thanks mate, I enjoyed this thumbnail too. I did have an alternative vision in my mind with me wearing an undone shirt and a loosely fitted tie staggering about with a detector in hand and bottle of whiskey in other hand. But as always I didn't have time to construct that!! And yes I have no idea how on earth I did not see that horrific typo 5 or 6 times, I was so annoyed after uploading then seeing that! As I'm sure you know, these things happen. Thanks as always for coming along to my channel and watching. G
