What about hair that won't curl in general. I was curling my hair and as soon as the iron let go of the hair it went straight again. But only on clump right at my face
ok Chris - I just watched this video and need your suggestions... Hair type - long, slightly wavy but fine hair which is highlighted. I wash with Redken Volume Injection, leave in Pureology, Oleplex 6 & 7. You mentioned in this video to avoid curling your hair on clean hair (wash day) but to curl on day 2. I find that the only way my hair can hold any type of curl is on wash day with little to no product. I have tried curling and clipping until cold, using hot rollers, or a curling iron. The curl on fresh hair will stay for a good few hours if untouched and with hair spray. The more product and the dirtier my hair is the flatter my hair will be. My stylist even tried curling my clean hair with product and it fell flat before I left the salon. I find that the only way to keep a curl to last the day is to set my hair from damp using either rollers or those wave creators (the netted sleeve you pull sections of hair through with a large type of crochet hook). Unfortunately the curl is so fluffy I look like a poodle. What would you suggest as a middle ground? I either look electrocuted or have flat hair. Cheers and thanks!
Hey Valerie! So this is advice that's unique to you and your situation. Not my normal advice for everyone so it kinda contradicts :) My first thought is to cut Olaplex 6. For most it's great because it adds a smooth texture. But hair that won't hold a curl is usually smooth already. So if you're blow drying I would try something like redken big blowout that's lighter. Then I can't stress how important a great heat protectant with hold is. Like kenra thermal styling spray. If that doesn't help let me know and we'll go deeper 👍
Okay so I’m trying to find a video specifically addressing old grown out bleached hair and if it prevents new virgin hair from holding a curl .? I have healthy hair ASIDE from the outgrown bleached hair that’s grown out but evrytime I curl my hair it falls ! And I’m really good with hair maintenance. Just not sure if the dead hair not being cut off of my ends is preventing it .
A hairdresser told me to wash and blowdry and iron day before to curl to last more (like de wedding day), but I understand that you say it isnt so, true? thank you
Hello Chris. Your content is awesome. Plz I need ur help badly😔. My hair are wavy dry damaged. Have highlights. I shampoo use tresseme keratin mask as conditioner, moroccanoil intense curl cream as leave-in conditioner, then loreal oil. Airdry. But poof up and tangle a lot when I sleep, even in a silk bonnet or bun. Extremely dry frizzy totally unmanageable. Plz can't use every thing expensive, I can only use 1 or 2 expensive.
Hey Jaweria! It's really difficult to have healthy hair with cheap products. If you could only do one high end product I would go for a great leave-in conditioner. From all the ones I've tried, leave-ins that "double" as styling products aren't as good as pure leave-in conditioners. Hope that helps!
My trouble is that my hair is super thick like a horse tail, coarse and waist length. I wash my hair once a week with Redken hair cleansing cream and Living Proof Perfect Hair day conditioner (not a fan of this conditioner but I bought it to try it). I use the T3 one inch curling iron. I just came across your channel today and watched another video you did about curling. The technique you described for curling hair is what I do. Heat protectant and blow dry cream are something I need to add as well as leave in conditioner. But other than that do you have any recommendations Chris? Honestly I hate how thick my hair is because it’s so heavy and I feel like that’s why I can’t get a curl to even last an hour.
Should I use a clarifying shampoo if so can you recommend one. I have fine hair that is straight and soft. I use redken injection bc of you and I love it...
Hey Winter! That's awesome :) But I wouldn't worry about a clarifying shampoo unless you go 5 days between washes and have to wash twice to get it fully clean. If you're washing every 3 days or so I would stick to the volume injection 👍
Help . . . I'm confused. You suggest in your video to wash your hair the night before an event . . . do you mean to curl that night as well or not to curl until the next day?
How can I prevent my hair from knotting in the back? It doesn’t matter if it straight or curled it can get really bad that I have to brush it and then the curls frizz up really bad! I have thick hair and a lot.
Hey Cindy! Some people have hair that just naturally tangles a lot. If you get a knot I would brush it out in the shower with conditioner in it to help detangle. Damaged hair also tangles easier. Leave-in conditioner and a mask can help with that 👍
Hey Azenett! Absolutely, the best irons are made by Babyliss right now. They last for 4+ years of heavy use in my salon and still give the best results. Babyliss nano titanium is great, personally I like the ultra thin because it can fit into tight areas 👍
Can you make a video for the Dyson air wrap? I see you make a lot with hot tools but I just paid $600 for the Dyson hoping it would be easier to curl my hair and it definitely is! My only problem is I have very long almost to my butt hair and it is fine and straight like morticia addams hah and my curls fall very quickly. I don’t know the proper products to get my hair to hold a curl using a blow dryer and I can’t stand the feel of buildup on my hair. It gets tangled easily, crunchy, and oily at the roots and the product makes my scalp itchy. If I brush my hair I loose everything and it’s just a frizzy flat mess. I would love bouncey curls or a nice blowout. My layers just blend into my hair with how straight it is. I really need help!! I have the Kendra thermal styling spray but it is for dry hair, I need something for damp hair.
I have an event for Friday's night. Silly me decided to wash my hair yesterday, today it's nicely clean but tomorrow it will start to get oily and I'm worried for Friday it's going to be straight up dirty. Should I then wash my hair the night before again thus tomorrow's evening?
