My old largemouth bass mailbox had faded albino white so I watched this video with my brother and with a selection of spray paints from Walmart went at it. If you stand back 20 feet, it looks amazing. I wish I could send you a picture of it, but I'm not that smart. (yet)
Thanks for this video, I’ve been sitting on a halfway done baby bass 2.5 shallow diver because I haven’t figured out a good way to do the lateral line, I’m going to try this today
dude, you are awesome! I love to bass fish and art. You have sparked my curiosity to get into making my own sqaure bills. Tight lines! - new subscriber
Great video thanks for your time to teach us. I’m just getting started in this hobby.i make soft baits and jigs for a Hobby .this is going to be a learning experience
Mike... Great videos! This one was very helpful on how to make the scales on the back "pop" a bit more with the gentle coat of black. Looked great! Do you use any chrome style paints on your lures? I'd love to see how to paint over a highly reflective surface to give it that extra shimmer!
Love your vids! Please make more, I'm learning so many awesome techniques from you. Thanks! Can you please make a short little vid on how you clean your airbrush between colors and how to reduce the colors. I'm having issues with paint clogs and probably need to reduce, just not sure how. Thanks brotha and keep doing your vids!
regarding cleaning my brush.... I pour the excess paint back into the bottle, then spray any residual paint into the cleaning station (by Iwata) then wipe it out with a paper towel. Now I pour airbrush cleaning solution in the cup and with a Qtip break up any paint sediment on the bottom then spray it all out into the cleaning station.
great job on all the videos, very informative. I was wondering if it is possible for you to do a video on your airbrush and compressor set up paint booth and all that stuff. im looking into getting into this as a hobby but im clueless on where to start. I fish a lot and thought this would be of great satisfaction if I could catch fish on lures I made. thanks for your time
Very very good video. Although I have been making spinner baits for years, I am just starting to make wood baits and muskie lures. I just bought a 2 stage air brush. I went to hobby lobby and bought some acrylic hobby craft paint and wicked thinner in lieu of the air brush paint ie createx. Will this paint work?
Thank you for showing I really appreciate it. About the drying wheel. Do you have to let them sit on the wheel The eight hours oh that's not necessary. Thanks
Angel Vega it rotates on the wheel for 8 hours Then you can turn it off and let it sit for the full 24. It can keep rotating longer it's just that 8hrs should be the minimum to prevent pooling of the clear coat
2 questions 1. what do you use to cover the bill I tried masking tape but it left a sticky residue 2. besides the basic colors white, black, red, yellow, green, and blue what 5-10 colors would you recommend getting to start with
I always see the paint brushes AT Walmart.. Its not necessarily with the other kids painting supplies. But I always see them there for .97c for a pack of 30.
have you ever considered using Dick Nitre Lurecoat S81/ It is a bit pricey @28.00 a pint. But has a bit longer work time and is much tougher than either the deacon or the envirotex. you do have to use a drying wheel. there is a method to decant that makes this stuff last a real long time.If interested, I can explain more. Example of the toughness, I have a bait that was run over by a truck on a gravel driveway that didn't harm the finish at all.
I take the excess paint left in the airbrush cup and pour it back into the paint bottle. Then I spray out as much of the excess paint as possible into the cleaning station (Iwata makes them ). Then I use a paper towel and wipe out the cup, THEN pour some airbrush cleaner in the cup and spray it threw the brush. Sometimes I put some cleaner in the cup and then stick a Q-Tip down in there to get some of the paint residue out from the bottom of the cup.
Lure Me In Custom Painted Crankbaits yea i do a very similar process. i even do a little more extensive after certain colors. I still get some paint residue inside the brush after it so i have to take the brush apart and do a really thorough cleaning. also paint drying on the needle tip is very frustrating, any tips to prevent that
Joe Paratore Someone else mentioned the dry paint on the tip. I haven't had that issue yet but I know its very very common for airbrush users.. Check out the forums at www.tackleunderground.com and ask how to prevent this.
+Joe Paratore when your done painting. Put a toothpick in the end. Thats what i do when using super strong luqid adhesive. Stops the tip from sealing shut
@@luremeincustompaintedcrank3818 im still beginner learning alot from your videos and jekyll thank you got 274 2 oz bottles of acrylic paint for 20 bucks but never used that kind of paint
look...your painting is great.but its plastic baits.this is easy way.attempt to make a your wooden bait .than you will see how difficult it is.about your painting very nice.
Just because its plastic baits doesn't make the painting any easier. I can't produce the number of baits I need by carving wooden baits. I would never be able to get my money's worth from the time spent carving wooden baits.
