How To Customize A NHL Hockey Jersey

There are many different routes to go when customizing a NHL or Minor league Hockey jersey. In this video, I'll go step by step and in full detail to help get those jerseys customized. Team customizers / suppliers are a direct and sure route. however, there are other processes that work as good or near as good and may save you time and money. Bellow Ill post links to the CUSTOMIZE SPORTS which makes my kits and CITY SPORTS who I use to sew my kits as well as anything Chicago Blackhawks related. In addition, I'll post links to how to strip jerseys and also how to wash jerseys.

You are really detailed like I am. I was going to get a specific player customized on a specific jersey. Until I did more research, and found out that specific player didn't wear that specific manufacturer. I found a big collector on Instagram who told me what years each manufacturer made the jerseys.

Agreed 100%. The more and more deep we get in the hobby the more those fine details appeal to us and other like collectors. Time consuming, but one of my favorite aspects of collecting.

@Jersey_Jaguar Something else that bugs me is I'm having a hard time finding what years the manufacturerers put nameplates on the back. And what years each letter was sewn on. From the limited research I have done, there is some variation. Another mistake I have noticed is many 2022 Winter Classic jerseys were wrongly customized with nameplates when the players wore the jerseys in the game without nameplates. How did so many of the customizers mess that up?

@@fantasticvoyage262 I remember the redwings had no nameplates to in the winter classic some years ago. I think most customizers unfortunately overlook those fine details and presume teams always use generic team specs.

@Jersey_Jaguar That would be a jersey foul to me if it had a nameplate when it wasn't supposed to. I found a Winter Classic jersey I liked. But didn't buy it because it was wrongly customized with a nameplate. So I want a blank or a customization without the nameplate.

Looks like the Josi nameplate color is a slightly different shade of yellow than the jersey.

After it was applied it looks about a half shade or so at most

I'm glad I've been able to help and I appreciate you watching! Yes the numbers can press on preferably with a heat press but if your iron can get up to 330 or so that should work. There's an instruction sheet customize sports gives you if you're doing it yourself. However I highly recommend using a heat press and sewing it down if possible.

So for Adidas the on ice products are out there but they are extremely hard to come by and are quadruple the price usually of the retail authentics.

@@jersey_jaguar right on. I figured. I have my nice Adidas Authentic Reverse Retro 2023 for the colorado avalanche, but it’s not near big enough to wear on ice with gear (not that I’d want to ruin my 300 dollar jersey by wearing it in a game). But it’s frustrating that out of all the leagues, the NHL is seemingly the most expensive and difficult to deal with when trying to find the authentic on ice “cut for gear” jerseys.

I had no idea the Predators used sublimated letters on the nameplate. Are they the only team that does that?

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't catch this one. As of current teams I know some used sublimated twill for the numbers and name but I haven't seen full sublimation to the point of a sublimated nameplate. Actually looks really cool in person.
