masking tape works as well as hot glue. Tape the front & back and leave an open space where groove will be.

Thank you for making this video!! I enjoy all your videos, actually. I make jewelry and I don't have machinery around except for the rotary tool. I am definitely going to use this technique. This one has great info and I love how you explain everything. The do's and don'ts alike. Thanks for your time.

I was so surprised today when I watched another person's video where she cut the groove in her stone with a machine, and I decided to see if I could find a video that showed how to do it manually, and I found yours. I then looked over all the videos you have posted and was so pleased that I found you and will be referring to your videos often from here on. Thanks so much for sharing such needed skill topics. I am now trying to find the diamond-coated tools you used.😺😻❣

Thanks Liz....This subject is very helpful. I plan on giving wire wrapped quartz crystals as gift for Christmas. Where did you get the diamond coated files and were they expensive? I will need to braid some silver and copper wire too. What sort of tools do you use for bending the wire? Also....I would like to give my wife some polished agates and jasper like the beautiful ones I saw in another video of yours ... I'm looking at stones between 1" and 1.75" Do you ever sell polished stones?
@LizKreate
@LizKreate 7 лет назад
Thanks for watching Dale. The files came as a set of 10. Bought mine from a Lapidary supplier years ago for around twenty five dollars for the set. Please check out some of my wire wrapping videos to get an idea on what/how to use pliers for bending wires. I have some large agate cabochons for sale on my website lizkreate.com. Good luck in finding that agate stone for your wife. Cheers, Liz

A tile saw with diamond blade is a better option. Likely can find a used one or a very cheap one on ebay.

Hi, this is JC. I've been collecting gemstones (rough) at the beach near to my house namely agates, rose quartz, chalk turquoise, citrine, jaspers (yellow and red), chalcedony and milky quartz. I don't have machines at home and I tried to use sandpapers but it gives rough surface after the stone gets dry. Honestly, I am from Philippines and I am looking for people to help me find affordable and convenient products to make my gems more beautiful to look at. Or it could be that someone will take my gems and polish them all for me and name a price. I just want to get them cleaned up like real jewelries. Thanks a lot!
@lilbohbeat5785

JC PRODUCTIONS I know this is an old comment, but in case you’re still wondering; you need to gradually use finer and finer grit sand paper, in order (Rough-Soft/Low # grit-High#). To start, at minimum try maybe 60 grit to roughly shape, then say, 160 grit, and end with at least 360.. you may need to add extra steps/grits in between or after - just feel it out.. that would be for a softer stone (which is what you should start with!) You can google their place on the moh’s scale, or just scratch them a bit yourself to figure out your softest pieces. Also, it’s a great idea to invest in a tumbler if you’re going to use that above (easy/less-steps) method to get a real pro finish - you can make one yourself using a drill. Just google it.. hope I’ve gotten you set in the right direction, though :)
@lilbohbeat5785
@lilbohbeat5785 6 лет назад
JC PRODUCTIONS Oh! Make sure to use wet/dry sandpaper and sanding powder polish, you should also of course finish with polishing cloths (denim/leather work great)
