I take a couple of scraps and make them 46 degrees and try them. Then make an angle adjustment off the results (make them 45 and 1/2 or 46 and 1/2 or whatever it is), Then set the saw to that angle not messing with that angle finder square.
@ChrisNobodySpecial
@ChrisNobodySpecial 5 лет назад
My method exactly. Also, with my Rigid compound miter, it has a 12" blade and I can cut all angles on most materials without tilting the blade, the only exception being on compound angle cuts. It can cut stock that is 7 3/4" thick/wide. If the angle is slightly acute or obtuse, I wag it a couple of degrees one way or the other and it works out.

yep this bloke knows what he's doing - although it helps to have a fancy chop saw and a sliding bevel -- . Four corner rooms are easy but if you've got to go round an old chimney breast and do external mitres Id get a decent chippy to do it rather than pissing around for days on end bisecting angles, filing off 45 degree mitres than don't fit, cutting mitres the wrong way and generally getting REALLLY ANGRY.

In all fairness you CAN angle cut your internal corners too, it will just not allow for much wall imperfections. If your walls are bang on 90 degrees I never had issues angling internal corners. With not so ideal walls, scribing the corner gives a bit of manoeuvre to join them more neatly. With angled cut you’d have to fill the gap with caulk and paint it to hide imperfections.

Show how you did that inside corner. I've seen the technique before but it would be great to have you explain it in the same detail you did with this outside miter.

+Spend Time, Save Money, DIY : why didn't you show and illustrate the cutting of the inner corner line. Can it also be cut using the circle saw or you need a hand saw to cut it ? I suggest and request you show that in your next video illustration. Otherwise thanks for your skills, time and sharing.

Nice old school method, why not just use digital angle finder and split the number, much faster. Could never make money working like this.

From another chippy. Far too long winded. Buy a digital angle finder to use in conjunction with your chop saw. Easy.

katastrophenschutzwa you miss the point my friend! This video is aimed at diyers who are trying to save money by doing the job themselves. There is always a different way and numerous people have said to buy an angle finder but this is the way I was taught and it's never let me down! Thanks for watching anyway 👍🏼

Mal Tyrer thank you but I'm no genius! This method is old school. Craftsmen have been using this method for hundreds of years just without the power tools 😂. It's only recently people think they need all kinds of fancy gadgets to do jobs. This is the way I was taught by a real craftsman and it's always worked for me! Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Outstanding work ,makes my monkey DIY work look a shambles . But..... I'm non the wiser as I can't understand how you got the perfect angle with your pencil markings. Holy mother of god, must take u ages to to finish a job working like that, not that it’s bad, just obsolete, maybe take some pointers from finish carpentry tv, he tends to have similar methods to us which it at least 10 to 20 times faster than this
@spendtimesavemoneydiy
@spendtimesavemoneydiy 4 года назад
mike z thanks for your comment. The purpose of this video isn't to show off how fast I can do it or how much money I can spend on a gadget to help me do it. My aim with this video is to show DIYers the traditional way to do it that works every time. In my experience quicker isn't always better, quality over quantity for me. Thanks for watching anyway and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
