To get a clean break !... put a straight edge under your score line and apply even pressure to either side of the line, If you tap all along the line as said you will get an uneven break....then you will have more work to clean up. Do not use sandpaper ! use 'wet and dry' paper as used by car body repair shops, wrap it around a piece of flat wood and use it wet...it will wear the sharp edges down quicker !!
@@walter6242 thanks for asking .. glass cutting is hard. I ended up using a Five gallon acrylic tank as the top for the water fall effect into a ten gallon below. The top tank is filled above the water surface via a power head from the lower tank, top water fall tank is planted with all sorts of aquatic plants housing a single Female Betta, lower tank schools white clouds, and endler guppy's . Works great. Completely DIY. The water fall portion pours into a filter basket that Drains back into the top of the Ten gallon White cloud home.
Hi I’m trying to turn a vertical aquarium into a vertical reptile tank. It only opens at the top, but I’m wanting to cut out one of the glass walls to incorporate a door. Would you have any advice?

Ordering glass online is a tricky things as its too fragile. It's better to get it from a shop. Why don't to try in a mirror shop or a window /door shop. They might help
Amatuers. So many things are shown wrongly. When cutting a thin glass, tapping at the back of it should be avoided as much as possible to prevent chipping. Try placing a small nail like item below the glass right at the scored line and gently put preassure at bot end and it will break smoothly. Also when sanding the edges, wrap the sand paper around a wood block and sand along the glass edge. Not towards the edge as shown. This will cause uneven thickness at the edge and can also cause the glass to chip. Can be very dangerous to whoever hold it.
@@TheIndianFishkeeper yesi am trying to save it, I practiced more and more with the same piece, after losing 3 feet of glass to uneven cuts I finally got a semi-straight one I'm just going to leave alone. Maybe make it a window into the side of a koi pond 🤔
Thanks for the video ,,,, ITF don't mind ,,,, but u ain't using sand paper ... its called Emery Paper... Sand paper is yellow used for wood and might be Glass ,,, where as Emery paper is for metal

what is the thickness of glass that you are trying to cut. i will suggest first try it on less thick glass like 4-5 mm. Try putting little bit of pressure.
@@munazirhusain7816 Do not use toughened glass. !!..yes it is stronger and harder..... but not impossible to break but if it does break you will have no way to stop the flood that will happen in seconds!! as the glass disintegrates into thousands of pieces !! If you use thick float glass (non toughened ! ) it may well crack if hit....but you will have time to do a temporary repair !
Ravi Mandavi yeh apke experience me depend Karta hai... 4mm to 6 mm asani se cut hote hai. But 8mm se upar wale glass Ko cut karna mushkil hota hai. But jo professional rehete hai woh kar pate hai.

bought a fish tank from pet smart 150 gal. on sale for 569.99 there is now room with the hood for a canister filter . i tried to call the help line to find out if its tempered glass for the top only so i can have the glass man cut two 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 so the houses will fit in the top of the tank any help would be thank full
