I'm making a glass lid for my aquarium. I tried using different types of plexiglass, but it kept curling up around the corners. So now I'm going to try using glass. I need to cut out a notch for the water filter. And I was wondering how the heck I'm going to do that. This video helped immensely. Thank you.
Any coarse sand paper should work. I'd stay away from the fine grit stuff because the glass could easily cut through it and then you end up needing stiches lol
Thank You! You are the only video showing cutting a rounded edge with that kind of cutter. Everywhere else says you have to get a special kind. I want to cut a complete circle and I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks this was great.
This is a nice simple video of how to cut glass. I had a go on a lid last year but it cracked. I hesitated after that because it costs to replace. I’ve just switched my internal filter for an external one and now the lid doesn’t fit since I installed the tubes. I want to cut out a 90 degree angle on the right rear side. I rang round a few local glass cutting services and most inform it’s a risk. Not sure how to go about this. If I get it wrong I lose the lid that fits the tank. Any suggestions? Currently I’m just resting the lid on top of the tank with it overhanging.
Hoe large is the tubing? If it’s 1” or less in diameter, you can just get a diamond coated hole saw and drill a hole that will fit nicely! Lots of vids on youtube on how to drill a hole through glass.
@@ThePlantedTankTV I got that part, but is there a specific name or brand because if I put that in on Amazon that specific one you’re using doesn’t come up
@@ThePlantedTankTV the problem I have is a filter sits on top of the tank on the side and I can’t put a glass cover on it, I need that in order to put the lights for the live plants… so I’m thinking to cut a little glass to make room for the filter. Otherwise no cover at all. What do you suggest? I can’t find any glass covers that have a little space for a top filter😩
