Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I watched it right before I cut my fabric for my 16x16 pillows. They look so much better with no extra seam allowance! Thanks for the tip!❤
Thanks for this video! I've been cutting out my fabric inefficiently but you totally helped me solve that with the mark-then-connect method. Thank you!
I really appreciate how you keep instructions simple and clear. I will go back and check, because I'm wondering if you ever gave a rule of thumb on how big a zipper should be if using for a pillow cover.
Great video. My question is how do I calculate how much material I will need for a 24 x24 pillow cover? I'm making your zipper pillow cover. Thank you.
The yardage you'll need depends on the size of pillow, and how wide your fabric is. I prefer using decorator fabrics that are 54" wide. So, if you're using a solid fabric, you would need at least 3/4 yards. That's if the fabric is cut exactly right at the store. To be safe, I would buy 1 yard of fabric if it is 54" wide. If your fabric is only 45" wide, you'll need at least 1 1/2 yards. You'll need more fabric if the fabric has a print that you want a certain part of on each side of the fabric. This might need to be an upcoming video. Good question, but depends on a lot on your fabric.
Yes, I did leave an opening on the bottom edge. I only sewed the first two inches and the last two inches of that side. The opening was then hand-sewed closed.
