You keep saying the point is to protect your borders, which give you a place to stipple up to... probably dumb question but is the border just decorative or is there a functional reason for them?

@@gledhillcustoms4659 thank you, and I shouldn't have said "just" or "merely" cosmetic. As my wife taught me (I will never admit to her), cosmetics serve just as much purpose as anything else.
