Our technique is that we break it horizontally and then we remove the rod or the stick inside and then if you have pumpkin leaves in your garden you can wipe off the sticky things with pumpkin leaves and then you can start eating or collecting the edible things in a bowl. If the jackfruit is fully ripen you don't need even knife, you can just break it bare hands.
