Warehouse jobs some coworkers or supervisors are rude it's like high school . Many adults act like teens and I stand up to them

Wish i did this. LET ME SAY FOR ANYONE READING... IT'S NOT WORTH STAYING IF YOU ARE IN A DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENT. IT'S BEST YOU CONTINUE ON YOUR WAY. YES IT'S HARD EVERYWHERE YOU GO, BUT SOME PLACES CAN SERIOUSLY HARM YOU. LEAVE. GET OUT. DON'T LOOK BACK.

You can change difficult coworkers. Difficult boss? Forget it, not a chance they'll change. There's zero accountability from their employees and nothing externally will motivate them to change.

Thank you. This is so good! My rule book means I have a high need for communication and feedback (bad or good) and a high need to feel I am valued and my work is valuable. When those things are lacking I always blame myself. It’s really difficult. Maybe it’s not about me, but other people are acting from different rule books. I will try and let them have theirs and keep mine but reflect how they are acting from theirs.

Omg bannnggg!!!! It feels like you described exactly and 500% correct situation of what I am going through at new workplace where my boss is not providing proper directions and guidance and head is not happy with it and it impacts me as well which makes e feel everyday I am not doing my job correctly….. I am not competent…. They will let go of me…. My grow will be stuck…. Etc etc….thank you for providing a way out from this situation -- I will work on this ❤❤❤

This makes more sense, when dealing with difficult co-workers or a difficult team you're responsible for managing. I'd argue part of being an effective leader is understanding how to work with different people, at a level above expected for your team. That's supposed to justify the concept of having bosses at work, right? What I'm trying to say is I still think it's fair to judge a difficult boss as being subpar in their position if they cannot pick up on employees having these different "rulebooks" and try different strategies to work with those amongst their team.

Hi! Yes, I agree. Excellent managers are skilled at figuring out how to manage based on what motivates/encourages different individuals. However many people will work with managers/supervisors who are subpar at this skill. Being able to apply the rulebook idea even to supervisors can help to empower you to move forward without waiting on your manager to change.

How do you deal with managers who have rulebooks that cause them to treat others in a way that truly comes off as demeaning and disrespectful. For example managers who have a rulebook that makes them think it's okay to lie to employees because they hold a higher position than them and are therefore more important? Sometimes there are truly toxic and narcissistic bosses.

I left a toxic job 3 weeks ago and started a new one. I’m struggling again. I’m a manager in a dentist. I feel like one of the staff members is constantly is trying to undermine me. She assumes I’m supposed to be exactly like the manager that just left. I’ve only just started this job it’s only been a week. Give me a break it hasn’t even been 2 months. Do you think I should put a lot of pressure on myself to learn everything. This toxic nurse has been working here for 6 years and she has a reputation for drama. Today she was instigating some problems at work with one of the dentist and the dentist came storming into my office. I believe I need to put my foot down because the sweet attitude isn’t working.

Hi, this is really good information but it's a shame that it was 2 years ago and you haven't really posted anything since then. I've just come over from the Uncage your Life video about not working with social media to build your business! This is great advice by the way. I've always worked under people who don't treat their staff well and in turn the co-workers start acting in a way that becomes disruptive. This is the main reason I want to work for myself and guide other people to free themselves from allowing themselves to stay in jobs where they are not appreciated

I think that while you bring up good points, there are bosses who do not have a logical point in mind sometimes. Not that the criticism is unfound every time, but that the way they go about is irrational and too far.

What if your supervisor uses harsh words like you're a burden and nobody works with you anymore, due to errors you've made casued by memory loss, recently diagnosed by a specialist? What if he doesnt care of the root cause of the problem and just repeatedly saying harsh words that demoralize, rather than drive you to prove him wrong, mainly because you cant as you have a medical issue of memory loss? Shouldnt there be a universal rule, for all rulebooks, to be emphatic as well, of course without totally disregarding the work exigencies, as it is understandably why you are there as an employee?

What if someone is mentally challenged. Like bipolar. I find it women are the toughest to work with. Hormones etc. we all also have different temperaments. But I appreciate your message. Rule Book. As a college student ever learning the conflict resolution course was very helpful and this will also help me get through my latest challenge of working under some supervisors that seem very challenging I’m trying to look at it from the standpoint what are they going through maybe on the homefront because life especially the last two years has been very very very hard for all of us there’s so many challenges in life and they surely manifest on the job even as managers as well as coworkers

In my experience, men are harder to work with. They're less willing to listen, lazier, and less willing to seek help/admit when they're wrong.
