Great videos. Quick tip: many of us watch/listen on our small phones while 1/2 doing other things such as bulbing. You commonly say “we are gonna connect this” or “that” without using descriptive terms like “the peak on the front gable”. Saying THIS or THAT is very hard to follow unless you are closely watching. Even then, with the tiny cursor you use, it’s hard to know what you’re referring to. Try it - listen without watching closely .. impossible to follow. Great content though, just a tip!

This is so cool!! Sad that we in the Netherland dont do this kind of work and decorate on a huge scale.

That makes me sad too. Hopefully in the future we can figure out how to ship internationally to get your country lit up.

I saw someone recommend using the same strand for small jumps while just breaking off the bulb socket and taping off the pin holes, what do you think of that? Do you ever find more plugs can cause more possible failure points?
@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight 11 месяцев назад
That works too. Just put a little liquid tape on the vampire pin holes and it will hold up

Thanks for the videos! I have maybe a dumb question but I'm not real familiar with power lines. But does the power to a line have to come from the end or can it came from somewhere in the middle of the line and will it spread to both side of the line? For example if I have just a straight 150ft line across the front shingles of my house but the only power outlet is directly in the middle of the house, can I run lamp cord up to the gutter line and just have a female inline vampire plug directly in the middle of the 150ft line to where the power cord plugs in to it and will the power distribute down the right 75ft and the left 75 ft from the female inline plug? Or so I have to run two separate lines from the middle, one to go to the right 75ft and one to the left 75 vs trying to run line all the way to one end to keep 1 solid line at the top and hope it's under 250ft. These are hypothetical numbers of course but trying to come up with a reasonable example.

Hey Matt. Not dumb. Both of these videos will help. It’s hard to efficiently answer your question on a RU-vid message. Watch these 2. If you still have questions, pop back in. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Eogu_ZdUf90.html SECRETS of the Christmas Light Industry - It's all About the Connections - Males/Females/Inlines ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jrt3r2f0zWA.html

Do you use mockup apps like Jolly Lights to give the client an idea of what the lights would look like on the house?
@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight 11 месяцев назад
No. Not yet at least. We always meet the client in person, talked through options and show previous work and have success with that. Right now the mock ups still take too long. Adding 15-30 minutes per estimate when you’re giving 100-200 bids per season eats up too much time.
@petermartijnheite-bauwens1632
I always wonder why the cords, lamp sockets and plugs don't short circuit in wet weather, for example? Here in the Netherlands you have to use enormous waterproof plugs that are so heavy that I'm afraid they will pull the whole thing off the roof again. Does it have to do with direct current, alternating current or are the 110 volt Christmas cords already provided with a waterproof seal? Especially those Vampire plugs... how do you do that?

That’s a great question that I don’t know the answer to. Any electricians out there know?

I’m reading online that the maximum bulb load on 18 gauge cable like you sell is 250 bulbs or 250’ whichever comes first. Is that really the case? I need about 270’ to do my roof and it’s giving this newbie some issues with his planning
@lawnandlight
@lawnandlight Год назад
Hey Lincoln. We’ve never had an issue with 250 - 350. Best to consult an electrician though.

I'm sure you are good at what you do. But this is a very generic video and very impersonal from the customer standpoint. But maybe that's how things are where you are located at. It's hard to believe that people would pay top dollar for just outlining their roof I've done very high on custom Christmas decorations for years, every home. Or commercial building is custom designed for each client, including all the trees and the reeds. Our handmade, what's the directions? I handmade on them and the lights are done in very customized configurations.. To do one location will take either one full day and night or two full days at night with a crew of 5 to 7 people working nonstop.. Plus a lot of preliminary design and shopping and making things and putting things together. But I do wish you well in your business. I'm sure if you offer more. Customize creative options. You would make a lot more money, but you have to have a very reliable staff
