@ash7517-k5j

I have realised painstakingly that -if you have combination to oily skin (but with no major acne concerns), you can embetter the quality of your skin by using products for dry skin as long as they are non-comedogenic (don't clog pores) and hypoallergenic (do not cause allergy by having fragrance...). My dermatologist prescribed products for dry skin to what he told me was combination to oily skin and it worked. My skin doesn't feel the need to produce as much sebum because it's externally provided for it and my dry areas are happy too.

So I've had very evident rosacea for the longest time (was first diagnosed in 4th grade) and as soon as I mildly dampen my face it gets very red. BUT THEN my cheeks are really really dry, I have very noticeable sebacious filaments on my nose and an oily forehead. Basically a dermatologist's worst nightmare lmao

Subcribed because of this video! I did the test and found out I don't really have oily skin, just "normal" skin, but around that special time of the month I might need a cleanser with salicylic acid in the morning only on the t-zone for a few minutes. BUT: I have eczema, psoriasis (not on the face) and a fragrance allergy and if I understand what you said here then these are skin conditions and not the same as sensitive skin? It would explain why I can easily use almost all the sunscreens around my eyes without irritation.

Is there a possibility to fall between skin types? For me I can never figure out if I have combination or sensitive skin :( I always thought I had sensitive skin because I can't cope with most products well (I also have an eczema on my hand and sometimes I get it on my the sides of my face with certain shampoos). However I've been recently wondering if I have combination skin type, because my cheeks and eyebrows feel dry and tight after washing (so do my eyes) but my nose (especially after I wash my face at night) gets oily.. I also get acne on my cheeks specifically and dermatologists keep giving me products that would dry out my face even more and cause me allergic reactions and redness until recently I discovered the concept of dry acne.. When it comes to cleansing I realised the best thing for my skin to not break out is to wash it with just water and no cleanser (if make up etc is not used.. which I don't really use) but then my face feels dehydrated and tight and when I use moisturiser I break out. Feels like I have to pick between having acne or dry skin but too dry breaks me out - I can't win.

Can I have a round of applause for having dry and sensitive(rosacea) skin while being acne-prone in the t-zone. Maybe I am wrong because the more I use acid peels(not very often and not very strong) to deal with the small white bump under my eye and on my nose(I think it's called milium?), the more I am breaking out. I am pretty much giving up on the acne situation because I don't want to worsen the redness.

I can't believe it took me so long to find your channel! You give the clearest explanations for everything skincare related. This video has 100% confirmed what I always thought; that I have dry and sensitive skin. My skin will flake even after a sensitive skin moisturizer has been applied. I use a super moisturizing night cream in the morning (followed by another sensitive moisturizer with SPF 30, of course!). I barely use any products and don't even wear any makeup, but I still randomly get facial hives a few times a week (can't identify a pattern/cause). Even just a simple warm shower gives me big red blotches on my neck and neck (no exfoliation or even body wash/soap on my neck and chest). Now I am 32, and struggling to introduce active skincare ingredients such as acids and retinoids . . . more reason to be excited to have found your channel :)

Plant and essential oils will make my face burst into flames. Tea tree oil, lavender oil, chamomile... No no no! I mean, poison ivy is a natural plant too, but I'm not about to smear it on my face. Been a skincare enthusiast for a few years and how come there are no simple ways of figuring out your skin type, until this video! Shocking! Thank you Dr Idriss ❤️ Would love a video on summer skin care routine. Living in a dry hot environment and now getting ready for the harsh summers in India.

This is so helpful! I was on youtube and saw your account and it’s so informative! Can you make a video about dehydrated vs dry skin? I know what the difference is, but I don’t know how I can see and feel that on my face😊

My skin is all over the place. During my period my skin can be oily and sometimes it can be dry

These skin type studies,like most of stuff in medicine has been done on male subjects that's why women a lot of the time don't fit into either of these categories,or experience fluctuations etc

Thanks to this I finally realized I probably have sensitive combination skin 😢 If I just let my skin be I get red on nose and cheeks, dry and itchy around jawline, and oily on the t-zone. If I use the wrong product I instantly break out on the dry parts of my face. Wether it's too drying, fat, or just sensitizing. Feels like a labyrinth to try and figure out what works.

I guess I have sensitised skin!! At the recc of my derm I only used cetaphil lotion- as a cleanser and moisturiser (no spf- i cried) for at least a month and then started treclin gel. My skin has had no issues with the treclin! No peeling, no irritation. Its amazing going from a time when I couldn't put water on my face without itching/burning. Never knew my skin could cope with a prescription tret!

Sensitive skin can have acne? I started to have acne when I was 11, but I just started to treat it when I was 14 with accutane, my acne got 98% better for 10 years without doing anything, but I started to have acne again, I am trying to take care of it with my skincare, but my skin is way too sensitive, anything can make me get red, or get more acne ou even bumps ( those are in instants).

Same. My skin is waaay more sensitive after accutane. I easily react to most products - and am still prone to comedones and the odd whitehead.

I'm trying to figure out my type, but I need some help. For some back story. I went to get a facial because I get breakouts (like white and black heads and acne), and my skin is sensitive. The lady gave me recommendations and said I have dehydrated oily skin. Now, since I was young, I always thought / was told I had dry skin, so her saying that was kind of weird to me. I've done the wash my face test my face feels clean, after a while it will feel little uncomfortable like tight but my skin is soft and bearly oily even slightly sticky my face shines after but it also looks bit dull compared to someone with really oily skin. Sorry for this being so long I'm trying to learn how to take care of my skin, and it's a bit overwhelming, especially because I don't want to waste money on products that won't work. Thank u. If anyone could help give advice, I would appreciate it. ❤

I just found you because Violette follows you and this video SOLD me! I am 56 and if I get one more stupid ad for “mature skin” skincare, they will see how immature I can be 😂. I, too, am a “lumper”, so thank you for the most clear video on skin I have ever watched! EDIT: I am the PIA sensitive/dry skin and your description of picky little bastard is spot on! Glad my skin is intriguing though 😂 COVID has been hell on my skin because I have yet to find a mask that my skin doesn’t react to, my skin has never looked so awful 😢
