Ebikes can be complicated machines to fix when they go wrong. Letr me give you some tips and trick mon how to sort it out. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?ite... www.cycle-fast.co.uk
One of the best tips from this video. Confirm diagnosis with known good parts if you can. As a car/bicycle mechanic, sometimes quickly swapping out a suspicious sensor, head unit, easily accessible part and retesting can save you time and headaches. Example, misfires on cars, swap the coil packs/ignition coils from the misfiring cylinder to the neighboring cylinder. Clear codes. drive until the car misfires. If the code changes cylinders its the coil pack, if it doesnt, its a spark plug. RARELY is it something mechanical with a single cylinder.
always useful videos mate. A good tip with the Purion is first to fit a cover since water ingress is most likely to happen by operating the buttons when the unit is wet due to rain etc...............and second to fit it on the bars very nearly vertical rather than horizontal. button presses become far more positive and the unit is better protected from both crashes and the elements.
I've got a ktm ebike and I purchased new lights and found the same thing with mine as it already had the loom ready must be a thing with certain bike manufacturers... Great video as always 👍 dave.
Thank you for the video my battery in my raymon with the px2 yamaha motor went error 74 after 10 months took it in battery fault on computor was diagnosed have to get a new battery did everything by the book.
Great video, very informative. I recently bought a 2nd hand xiaomi himo z20 however the display unit won't stay turned on (I have to hold the power button down) when it is on it displays an empty battery however the indicator light on the battery displays full. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Many thanks.
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic Yeah, they have to be enabled still. Until I get a rear light, I’ll see what I can do about capping off the end of the rear lead as it is exposed somewhat. I could take it out, but I prefer the plug in the socket keeping dirt/water at bay. Loving your YT Channel by the way 👍🏻
Hi man with bosch diagnostic tool can i find witch it°s the problem with error 500?the motor it°s refuse to start,i change all bearing end the same problem with this error 500.thank you
Hi, Thanks for watching and your comment, you will find that if the 500 error does not resolve after re-writing the firmware in the motor by the diagnostic tool then replacing the bearings will make no difference either
do you know what error 550 means with bosch CX units? my symptoms: PURION Display sometimes on and sometimes not, when may turn ONE i can ride but after some footrounds the ebike turn off i can turn on again some pedal work but turn of again.... some guy from TREK help me and he said bosh diagnostic said error 550... according hum i need to replace with a new motor
Hi mate. Love this video. I've got a Cube with Bosch Performance CX 4, Purion display and it turns on but won't stay on. Just checked the battery and is charged, cleaned the contacts and put it back on but still doing the same - display and motor turn off after a few seconds whether it's stationary or in motion. The motor works for as long as it stays on for. Any idea what to look at next as local repair guy suggested new motor and that seemed extreme as a first option. It's out of warranty so I may as well have a little go myself first.
Hi, thanks for watching and your comment. This could be a purion display fault. it needs to be plugged in to diagnostics to trace the fault, if you dont have anyone to do that then the only way to find out is to change the display for a new one to see if that solves the problem. It could also be a simple firmare update.
Hi I'm wondering what need to do with my vitilan u7 it's been give me an issue on the meter giving me a empty read battery symbol and my battery itself read full
Great video,👍 would have liked to have seen the removal and fitting of the new unit in real terms is it a 2 minute job? How much would this service cost in labour? 👍
Hi, thanks for watching and your comments, yes I did, but I wanted to make sure that we had a good video to make. A simple battery change if they were depleted in the display would have saved all the checking of the other components which made for a better video, lucky enough for me they were fine.
Mine keeps turning off. Main battery is fine but keeps turning off. The Purion display is not giving a low bat warning. Should I try that anyway. Just tried cleaning main battery contacts but hasn't fixed the fault. If it's not the display I'm not sure where to go next. Called a local repair shop and they suggested a new motor straight away but I feel like I should try everything else first.
Just got a new screen for my ebike and its giving e10 faultcode. Could the last screen that got waterdamage have messed up the electronics? Or do i need to reset someting?
Hi, thanks for watching, I assume that the previous display showed nor errors, check to purion connection at the motor, make sure no bent pins, if they are ok, sorry but I will need plugging in at your dealer.
Alrighty thx, i will try messimg around with the cables to the controller. If nothing works, problem is my bike is an esmaster, and esmaster just went bankrupt lol. Can any dealer fix it?.
My purion initially went pixelated due to water ingress but I could still ride the bike which I have been doing but now for over a year. But now the head unit only stays on for a few seconds and goes off . It's not the batteries in the unit either. I would love to come to you but I'm in Portsmouth but Do you have any recommendations for a good repair shop down in Portsmouth please . Great video by the way
Great video. If you swap any part into a bike for diagnostics that part is now used. At least it's an open box part. You do discount those to clients that get a part that's previously used for diagnostics, right?
Great logical step by step diagnosis Dave. So just for my benefit, can you confirm that the firmware is packaged in the Purion display? On another subject, my Purion steams up in the display window every winter. I don't pressure wash, but even though it seams to be absorbing moisture, it works perfectly. Should I be concerned and if so what remedial action would you advise?
you can fit a kiox retro fit kit so you can also use the app on the phone as use it on my gen 2 cx motor but you might need a firmware update from the dealer software
I have a 2021 trek rail this is my second winter with the bike and just noticed the same thing. I also keep water away from display when washing. I did not have the problem last winter. 🤔
As for the steamed Purion: there are clear silicone covers available for Purion display, these can decrease the possibility for the unit to absorb the moisture. But before you would put it on, at first you should get rid of the moisture that is already there. You can leave the unit somewhere close to the radiator, where the air is very dry. Or, if this not helps, put the unit into the plastic zip bag together with couple of silica gel bags (you can find them in your new shoes when you by them). In both scenarios, the effect will be better if you could remove the backplate to let the air to circulate (but most probably it will void your warranty).
@@micktheshaggy3977 I had a screen saver from a phone I cut to size to fit the purion from day one when I got it. And I just checked my ebike and the fogginess is gone. I wonder if it was from the screen saver.
Hey Mate, I've got a Trek Rail 9.9 2022 model with 2400 plus miles on it. I'm having Intermittent power shut offs when riding in the slow/moderate speed chatter (rocks). Usually the power drops off for a second or two and then comes back on. Occasionally it shuts all the way off and I have to push the power back on at the kiox. When I loose power it shows up on the kiox and then comes back on. I've taken it to the dealer and they've contacted Bosch, but no answers so far. Do you have any suggestions? I had a Rail 9.7 and it did the same thing, it was never fixed and they gave me this bike as an upgrade.
Hi, thanks for your comments. This is so difficult to diagnose. We need to bike in the workshop. It does sound like it’s a power issue, faulty connections need checking, any faults logged? It’s a case of swapping stuff out. Is it under warranty?
@The Yorkshire Bike Mechanic no I think the warranty has expired, no codes show for the issue either, that's why they are contacting Bosch. Thanks for getting back to me, I was hoping you'd have seen this before. I'll let you know if they figure it out so you'll have the info for the next guy.
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic please do not forget to say some words about the firmware, it looks like a big issue...I mean just plug-in additional battery and installation on the frame is not a problem, but.. firmware to force it works as dual battery..if it is possible very very interesting
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic thank for your videos and efforts!) Amazing content! It is a pity, that l live in another country, I would visit your workshop;) but I know one guy who is a Cornish man, he is 😎 , maybe you too Cornish)
I would have put some electrical tape on the ends of those wires, just to be safe. Also I would never have the battery in while plugging stuff in and out, its against my technician instincts. The best practice is to always take out the battery before doing stuff like that. Other than that great video.
You could have saved yourself 20 mins of messing about by just plugging the new purion on and you didn't check the purion battery either even though I doubt if that was the issue.
