DPF problems are always indicative (symptom) of something else being the causative factor, if not based upon typical usage (too many short trips stop/start)
i thought a DPF was a waste of time but yes they put out small particles but in a very small amount , i could not believe this until i saw a machine testing the amount of particle coming out of a exhaust system with and without a DPF . now with adblue they have very little smell at all . down side can fail for simple problems not putting enough fuel in tank , short journeys , cheap fuels , not having oil changes on time
