In this video I detail how to disable foundation snapping in Conan Exiles. This is a very useful technique for PvP base building as shown in the video.
Thank you! I was wondering why some pieces wouldn't want to snap with other pieces. Turns out, I disabled the snap point without realizing it. So the 1st part of your video helped with that. The 2nd part was just amazing. I primarily play on a pvp server and I'm going to upgrade my base walls based on your great tips!
A bit late i know, but anyway, Awesome video bro! Really helpful, i did a couple tests with your build idea. Hope this helps people planning this type of wall in the future. 1x1 wall damage number comparisons: 6 fence foundations, 1 explosive - exposed wall takes 18169 damage, 5 remaining walls take a whopping 6 damage each. Total= 18199 damage Foundation with layered fence foundation, 1 explosive - exposed fence foundation takes 20274 damage, back foundation takes 8204 damage Total= 28478 damage Total explosives to destroy layered fence foundations = approx 30 explosive jars Total explosives to destroy foundation layered with fence foundations = approx 7 explosive jars the damage numbers include the burn time after the initial explosion. i havent tested orbs on them yet. i couldnt get the wall/pillar combo to snap properly so i was unable to test it. a few tips i figured out while building the layered fence foundation wall. 1. you can place an actual fence on top of the previous foundation to block the snap (works better after the first 2 foundations are placed since a ceiling wont work after that i found) 2. though it weakens the wall in specific points, if you place regular foundations at proper stability intervals you can cover the top of the wall with a ceiling before putting in the last level of fence foundations (actually makes them snap easily as well) 3. if you arent on perfectly flat terrain, start your first fence foundation at the tallest height. 4. leave a slight space between the fence foundations. i did two variations of the layered fence foundation wall. the numbers previously stated were on a 1x1 wall with a slight gap between them, with them right up against each other the damage per explosive jar goes up to 26485. Rule of thumb, if you can see between the layers of fence foundation, you are giving yourself a large defensive buff. See yall around fellow exiles!
Just started conan a month now. Didn't think this was possible, on ps4 though so I hope this works. As a solo player, I REALLY need builds like this lol! 12+ doors for a cave base entrance
Hope you come back. I really like your style and very informative videos. Did you ever compare this 6-foundation method to the cross foundations with pillar centers?
I’m having trouble with foundations 5 and 6...I get the first 4 down and then the top snap becomes an issue again and i can’t build the ceiling any closer, any ideas?
Just found your channel and if your still going to make more , Ive a request. Found a server where they have good rules placed to reduce lag and performance issues. So the challenge is build a base no bigger than a 30x30x30 , You cannot stack foundations.
Perhaps I missed it, but he mentioned how we could use this method to overcome stability issues. How can this method be used to circumvent stability issues? Like lets say you want to place roofing, but you only have stability of 20.... it won't let you place roofing on it.
You don't use this to overcome or circumvent stability issues. You use it to manipulate stability. I'll try and get a video out on this in a week or so.
man the building snapping points in this game are horrendous, was trying to place a door frame in middle of two foundations, impossible, i give up, I'm just gonna try to do the minimum of base building.
Explosive damage is vastly attenuated after the first impact point. For example light an explosive and stand next to it. You're dead. Light an explosive next to a wall, and stand behind the wall. Hardly a scratch. Same thing with building pieces.
Too much faf but good idea, also building will take a lifetime and in pve or pvp your as good as dead, by the time you get so far building somebody come along take you down. Might aswel do this in single player or on your jack.
