Always appreciate you pointing out the basics in knife disassembly Nick, either catering to peeps starting out or a refresher course for those versed in the way.
QSP makes really good stuff. I have one of their fixedblades too, no complaints at all. I have the workaholic and the black/satin titanium penguin. Excellent knives for excellent prices, good heat treats on both of them too 👍🏽 I paid 65 euros for my penguin (inc taxes and shipping) and that’s just mind blowingly great deal 😁
Today I received my QSP Penguin with green micarta and D2, straight out the box it feels awesome, perfect centering and razor sharp, need to get used on the thumb stud tho it feels a bit too sturdy atm, might take it apart for a good cleaning and oiling..
This one (or rather, a Drop variant) has managed to fry my brain. I was taking it apart for cleaning today and accidentally let it fall apart on the table, which was fine since I didn't lose any parts. In fact, the opposite happened. I was left with an additional stop pin. For the life of me, I can't figure out where that one should go. Confused, I figured it must have belonged to one of the two knives I cleaned prior to this one, so I took both of those apart again. Turns out, those were all complete as well. I've been sitting here, inspecting these damn knives for another hour and still can't figure out where that bloody stop pin came from.
I got mine for 65 euros shipped including taxes. It’s my go to user knife atm, it felt like a steal for that price. Only the black and satin one goes for this, the others are 120 so I feel they made a mistake 😂
@@RobinJamesEricBond The Ti/154cm are £85 here. The scales are pretty plain, but there's an over-travel and the QC seems good. On the lower end I prefer 154cm to D2
@@speckledjim_ same here, D2 tends to microchip on the edge on almost all of my D2 knives. And they also won’t strop as easily:/ 154 and n690 remains my favorite budget stainless steels. Kizer made some special aluminium and 4V steel for around 100usd 🧐 need to try that
@@speckledjim_ Knives Plus also sells a version with m390 and a version with s35vn (both have titanium framelocks). They are around $120. I've been eyeing one as I love the $30 d2 version.
