This was super super helpful, as my first time trying to distribute a song i was really confused about the spotify and apple etc profile mapping as i hadn't created an account for that or anything, but this cleared all my worries. Just need to wait a little while! :D
Basically it's what portion of the song will play on iTunes when people preview the track. Also, it's the default start time when people use the track on Instagram or TikTok for a video, but users can still choose where it starts in those platforms if they want.
Thank you man you help me a lot because I didn’t know that I can share my music to every store in the market from soundcloud beacuse I was gonna sign up for distrokid but you help me with SoundCloud repost thanks
Do you have a video where you explain how to create an artist account on spotify?... NOBODY EXPLAINS WELL HOW TO DO THAT!, my question is how to reclaim an artist account, I already have a song released and live on spotify that I can play it myself in the App, but when claiming the account my name does not appear with my cover photo (I think, I suppose your name should appear with the cover or profile photo that you put on that account), or I should take any of the ones that appear to obtain a kind of "access" to the "artists" section, and then change my data, cover, etc?. Excellent video! Thank you very much for your time!
As far as I understand, we can do this with PRO as well. However, if the subscription ends after 1 month of pro, do the songs disappear? Like the dystrokid thing?

Great info! Thanks. I do have one query. Should one upload their music on SoundCloud before it goes live on these other distribution platforms OR should be it the other way round? What is the best practice?
It's normally a bigger deal for music to go live on Spotify and all the distribution platforms, and it can help the algorithms on those platforms if you get a lot of plays shortly after it's released, so could get hype for that release then release on SoundCloud and Bandcamp after that. Ideally I think it's good to release everything as close to the same time as you can.
When i tried this it said I had to complete "earnings > payout" before i could distribute the track, but i already complete the bank and tax information. Am i missing something? or is it some sort of bug? thank you
Very helpful I appreciate this video. Quick question you said that you just post your music for free is that 100% of the time or have you collected royalties for some of your music and how has that gone?
So it's free to download and use, but I still get royalties from streaming, like Spotify. Just don't have RU-vid Content ID setup. But Soundcloud takes a huge cut from that anyways. I don't make much from royalties at this point, but it's enough for a coffee every month!
I want to create an album with already existing tracks on my Spotify Profile. Is there any information about releasing an album with already existing tracks?
I think if you use the same ISRC of the tracks that have already been released and then upload them again with the rest of the new songs it'll put them all together and it should keep the play count from the tracks that were already on Spotify. kinda like how some artists release a single and also an album, but you can find the track as a single or on the album and it has the same plays. So there's duplicates of the track on their Spotify profile, but they are linked together.
what about "It looks like you're trying to include additional information in your title. Please add artist names, collaborators, and versions in the correct fields" ? any ideas how to handle this?
They like the title to be only the title, instead of having "(feat. artist)" or whatever after the title. They have a separate spot to add featured artists, producers, songwriters, etc.
I have a question. I just submitted my first track. Now, how do I proceed to create my Spotify profile? I have a Spotify account, but not an artist account. I don't know if there's any difference.
What if your track was denied for monitzation so they asked to resubmit with a file of the licensed agreement but it wont let you click on it in the iCloud folder once you click on upload files, like the file is there but its dim and it wont let click on it. very frustrating i hope you can help
It's different for each one, but for Spotify once your music is released you can go to artists.spotify.com and claim your profile. It's similar for Apple Music
Thank you for a great video. I've followed the steps and my song got approved. But it's been 4 days now and still I can't fin my song or the artist on Spotify or Amazon. What did I do wrong?
Quick question. Will I be alerted once my song/songs are released on Spotify and Apple Music? Or will I just have to keep checking them myself until I see it lol
Great vid! Thanks so much. With this, does only the Main Artist show up on the Spotify page for each track? Or does each track show Artist Name / Full Legal Name of Contributor? Trying to keep some stuff I'm working on as anonymous as possible, for a fun little experiment. Thank you!
Can you tell SoundCloud and repost by SoundCloud to add another payout method besides PayPal? Like Venmo , payoneer or even bank transfer ? We need more options .
hey! so i'm releasing a single for the first time on spotify, and i selected the automatic artist profile creation option. however, i'm seeing that i should pitch my track to playlisters weeks in advance, ideally. im trying to do this but i havent found any sort of way to do so without having an already-created artist profile on spotify (mine doesnt seem to exist yet). not sure what to do, if you had any knowledge on this and the time to indulge this q i would suuper appreciate it . thank you :))
Howdy! Pretty sure you gotta wait until your single is released, then you can go to artists.spotify.com and claim your profile so you can pitch for future releases. There are many independent playlist curators you can pitch your track to before and after your song's release as well!
@@freshlysunlit So I have 13 tracks in draft uploaded. It only lets you list track names, no place for album name. Also, each track has artwork, should I put the album cover as the Artwork for each one? And last is repost going to add the tracks to my page or do I need to do it?
Upload multiple tracks together under the same release and it'll automatically be categorized as an EP if it's 4-6 songs and under 30 minutes total length.
Download a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) my recommendation for free ones are Waveform: www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free or Cubase LE: www.steinberg.net/cubase/le/ then get a microphone and watch a bunch of RU-vid videos and you'll be good to go!
@@77sincere94 Yeah, it's standard for most distributors to automatically set release time to midnight of the release day. So basically the very start of the day. However, just learned that Distrokid and TuneCore allow you to choose the time of release, so if that's something you're looking for I'd check em out!
Hi, there's one thing that I missed here. After having your track submitted for distribution via Repost, how do you customize the RU-vid, Spotify and iTunes links Repost creates for you? I have been struggling with that for some time, kindly help!
Hi Andile. You have to claim your Spotify for Artists profile and Apple Music artists profiles on those individual platforms, and you can only do use after your music has been distributed and is live on those stores. For RU-vid you need 1000+ subscribers to claim your channel there.
As far as I understand, we can do this with PRO as well. However, if the subscription ends after 1 month of pro, do the songs disappear? Like the dystrokid thing?
so if you click create new profile they will make one for you once your relase is out how would i go into that new profile do they send a email how does that work?
@@freshlysunlit like if i want to turn my current spotify account into a artist account all i do is release a song but how will it know that its my song im really confused.
Artist accounts are separate from personal accounts on Spotify. So can rename your personal account to have the same name as your artist profile, but they are still separate. The only way to customize your Spotify artist profile is on artists.spotify.com@@Trelloxo
I have a had a normal SoundCloud channel for years now. I just purchased Repost. I now from another video learned I can’t monetize cause I don’t have enough listens. Should I sync with my current or make a new channel? I want to feature my solo album and a album with different band name that is me and one other person. Any thoughts?
When i set up my release, i didnt have the spotify account or apple. It wasn't actually created when I finished setting up the release. My release is tomorrow, and the track says "live" but I still can't find the account for spotify anywhere. Will the account be actually created on the release date? Or did i mess up.
After your release goes live you can claim your Spotify artist account on Spotify for Artists, it's similar for Apple Music, but you have to wait until after your release goes live ✌
how can i get the presave link for all the stores that i selected? how long would they give it? because i only set my release date 3 weeks gap from the day i submitted it
Hi there, thank you for the very helpful video. I followed your steps to release my first cover song. Unfortunately it is being rejected. An mail that i received says: "It appears that you are attempting to distribute a cover song, however, you must obtain a mechanical license from the original writer/publisher with a minimum of 100 digital downloads to distribute to Apple Music and other stores which allow downloads. If you have already acquired this, please include it when you resubmit your release for review. Please only submit full legal names in the Composer, Lyricist, Writer and Studio Musician fields (first name and last)." The cover song I made is written by Jivani ( birth 1846, death1909 ), an Armenian songwriter, and his work is now on the public domain. So, in the contributors section where it says "Please include at least one Main Artist and Composer.", I write my name as "Main Artist", and "Jivani" as "Composer (Legal Name)". The question is - how do I "obtain a mechanical license from the original writer/publisher" as they mention in their rejection email ? Please help me to overcome my first release :) Thank you.
Hi, I would like to ask if I can upload the songs of the album separately in different time periods?and may I adjust the release date For the first time do I need to wait or apply anything?
hey freshlysunlit! Id like your advice.. its release day for my first single using repost as a distributer. The song is showing up as an 'Album' on spotify and I can't figure out how to change that. Have ya got any suggestions?! I'm noticing there is not visible "contact us" button around repost either. Am I just looking in the wrong places?! Thanks in advance 💜🙌🏼
so does this post it to soundcloud as well like instantly? and you just gotta wait a little for it to hit stores? or do i need to upload my track to soundcloud first then add it to repost?
currently you need to upload to SoundCloud separately, but they are working integrating it together so you can upload on Repost and it'll post to SoundCloud!
On pandora plus is your music on there like your own artist radio station or is it there just for purchase ? Because I've been trying to get my own station where it just play my own music like the rest of my favorite artist's.
@@freshlysunlit oh ok that would be nice if pandora took it into consideration I been looking for a new distributor I've been apart of soundcloud forever since 2012
@@TheTimeCrust so first Repost has to approve the release which takes between 2-5 days normally (sometimes longer) then after that it's another 2-5 days until its up on Spotify. You're first release will take the longest because they have to create a Spotify profile and stuff. Also, be aware that every release has a 12 month contract with Repost so you can't migrate your release to another distributer until after the contract is up, and you gotta request to terminate it.
my music is not yet live but has been approved the profile mapping part is where Im confused I can't claim an artist account since I don't have one will SoundCloud repost make me one cause it's now letting me create one on the SoundCloud repost page below where it says create profile
yes, when upload your first release it automatically creates a Spotify and Apple Music artist profiles. you have to go to Spotify for Artists and Apple Music's artist page to claim them
Thank you but can you explain how I can link my profile artist like my Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook page name with my song, plz cus I am tired of trying
