How to: DIY Personalized Mug | EASY CHEAP GIFT | Step by Step Tutorial 

use Folk Art enamel paint instead of a sharpie. and a clear enamel coat on top of the decal sheet. mod podge does wash off, and I had NO IDEA when I made this video. I'm actually going to update the info now. the enamel paint is about $2 for a 2 oz bottle so it's pretty cheap and can be found at any craft store. you would still need to bake it but i think it says that on the bottle. :)

Tip: if you use oil base paint markers and bake it you don't have to worry about it coming off or adding clear coat.

The decal one looks* really cool, but you coated with Mod Podge. That is water soluble; So even hand washing would be out. Also--If anyone does the Sharpie marker one, make sure to buy the oil based version of the brand. Once heat set, they're waterproof. I learned that the hard way. ;)

I haven't used it yet, but the Dishwasher-Safe Mod Podge should hold up on the top rack. I'm fascinated by the Dry Erase Marker over the Sharpie. Very cool. : )

I read the comments after I bought the supplies (stupid mistake) do you think that if I used sharpie and sealed it with mod podge or enamel paint and then bake it, it will stay better?

I’ve read the description, and watched the video multiple times...I tried making the mug with the decal (with everything you have listed) but when I went to seal the decal onto the mug, all of my words smeared (I allowed the decal to dry for a day before applying it to the mug...so the ink should’ve been dry). At want point do you heat the mug when using the decal??? Before you apply the decal, before you apply the sealant, after you apply the sealant???

After the decal is pasted on the mug, do you need to heat it up so it will not peel off? The mod podge as stated will wash off. What about clear acrylic paint to go on top of it rather than the mod podge?
