Hi Sandy! Thanks for your question! I am happy to give your my advice. When I hold any elbow stand position, the shoulders naturally go up in order to brace yourself. You do not need to worry about pushing the shoulders down or separating your shoulder blades. I would say that your shoulders are up and your shoulder blades will naturally come together from arching the back. Think about pushing out your ribs and making a "C" shape with your back. Doing push-ups with the elbows in (tricep push-ups) is a great way to strengthen your upper body for this trick. I hope this helps!

Thank you! I have no idea if this is the proper term, or if you know what it is, but do you know how to do an elbow stand turn? Like you hold one of your legs foot on the ground and you move your elbows to a full rotation. I need help on these because I always fall to the side after moving my elbows once.

Yes! I used to have this skill in my routines. I never had a name for it, but I know what you mean. I have a good trick for it that will help you not fall. Will make a video soon! In the meantime, you should work on building up arm strength. Look up Pamela Reif on RU-vid for amazing workout routines!

Yeah my flexibility is nowhere near to do splits and stuff but I'm still trying to learn elbow stand.

I did it but not really like you and thanks for helping me>3 can I ask question? Is the wall I can do on it like I put my body on it and do elbow stand is there something like that it would help me but I don't wanna hurt myself

You can use the wall to help you! Go into your elbow stand with the feet against the wall, then carefully walk your feet up the wall and push off with both feet at the same time. Make sure your chin/chest are close to the ground. I recommend getting someone to spot you the first several times until you are comfortable!

Don’t beat yourself up over it! I have been training for a long time and this is a difficult skill. You probably need to work on developing more upper body strength, which is a good video idea for me to do next! Just keep practicing 1 step at a time and don’t get discouraged when it doesn’t work right away. It takes a long time.
