Just finished my oil change today at 581 miles. One thing worth mentioning is some of the tools and misc items required. 1. 6MM Torx socket 3/8 drive. 2. 6MM Allen socket 3/8 drive. 3. Brake Clean. 4. Clean up rags (have plenty). 5. Hand cleaner. 6. 6MM x 100 tap. 7. Tread lube/Anti Seize for bottom panel fasteners. 8. Air Compressor (optional). 9. Proper oil filter wrench. My car had a service issue and had the bottom panel removed twice. Whomever reinstalled it messed up a couple of the panel bolt holes and therefore had to be cleaned up with the tap. If you own a Ford GT of any kind I highly recommend you do your own oil change. If you feel your not up to it have a buddy who is mechanically inclined help you. Not all dealers have guys like in this video, so be careful who does the work on your pride and joy.
I'd use amsoil signature 5w50. If I had the car its the best synthetic oil on the market. Other brands say full synthetic but its only 25% synthetic amsoil is 100% synthetic.
3:30 that tech should know better. Ford instructions on all its vehicles do not pre fill the oil filter. If you get something on the clean side of that filter that’s even just a few microns from the production of the oil you can do engine damage. That oil pump will fill that filter, filter the oil and send it to the rest of the engine in seconds. The engine still has a film of oil for that literally 2 seconds.
motorcraft fl500s oil filter, also takes 13.7 quarts of 5w-50 full synthetic. ford recommends to change the engine oil and oil filter every 5,000 miles or one year (whichever comes first).
@@JoMama55824 the fl500 is the same oil filter used in the EcoBoost F-150 given that it's pretty much the same engine platform. Also I worked as a lube tech at a Ford dealership for about 8 months and motorcraft oil filters from what I've noticed are pretty good quality. I serviced a 2000s model mustang v6 that religiously had its oil changed every 5000 miles with motorcraft oil and filter and it was the original motor with 400,000 miles, still running just fine.
