Benefits of headstand-
1. Relieves Stress
2. Increases Focus
3. Improves Blood Flow To The Eyes
4. Increases Blood Flow To The Head And Scalp
5. Strengthens Shoulders And Arms
6. Improves Digestion
7. Helps To Flush Out The Adrenal Glands
8. Decreases Fluid Build-Up In The Legs, Ankles, And Feet
9. Develops Strength In The Core Muscles
10.Stimulates The Lymphatic System
11.Helps to control hair fall
Precautions-
(1)However, one of the most important reasons for not coming to the Headstand is when you have High Blood Pressure, heart diseases. Check with your doctor if you are fit to do this pose.
(2)Another reason to avoid the Headstand is when you have weak eye blood vessels or any eye problems. By ignoring your conditions you put your health at risk.
(3)Headstand is better avoided during menstruation and pregnancy.
(4)Plz avoid if you have chronic glauoma, spinal injury, survical problem.

Have you tried it with a wall? Or perhaps increase your core strength.

90% or 100 % of your weight should be on your forearms. Like downward facing dog, shoulders are away from your ears....Core strength and shoulder strength will make this much easier. Hope this helps.

Definitely you can practise headstand...If you feel too much irritation in your eyes then avoid it. You can keep your eyes closed while practicing headstand.

megha harish I am suggesting material and texture...You can choose 6mm yoga mat for comfort.

abradakadabra practice few strentching postures right after Shirshasana...Counter Poses like Sarvangasana and Arch Back pose
