I'm playing thru all 3 routes simultaneously and my sister and I have been playing co-op too. She loves using Claude. Which is handy because I loathe bows in this game.
@@hyperstargaming6150 I know my sister enjoys Claude but hated playing Shamir. So it could just be infantry bows feel worse, or maybe Claude as a flying bow feels more fluid. Idk how bow knight plays yet since I have no master seals.
I think this system is quite an upgrade from the first Warriors game and I think it's cool just how faithful they managed all these systems to feel like 3H in the process. The class experimentation is a ton of fun. Plus it's much better than mindlessly grinding supports with Ryoma just so you can give Astra to all your units haha
I kept feeling like I was doing something wrong when I was trying to teach another character a combat art, so it's good to finally see video of it happening and not just random people speculating from the demo on a 2 week old forum. Now I know I'm just really unlucky lol.
Also, don't sleep on forging and awakening weapons. Even a low level untrained unit with a high power weapon (especially sacred weapons and heroes relics that have an E rank) can still be devastating. And save up your Mythril and Umbral Steel to awaken the sealed abilities on Relics and Sacred Weapons, because it also massively boosts their might.
Awakening weapons really got to me my when I finally unlocked them. I prioritized fixing rusty weapons in the beginning as they were giving me awesome results, so I didn't get to awakening until near the beginning of my second playthrough only to watch relic weapons that I'd largely ignored post prologue rocket up to being among the best gear I had. XD
I gave Dimitri and Sylvain pretty much every damage boosting ability possible and they are literal gods now. Putting every character through warlock to get their essence ability is definitely worth doing.
Yeah I was just saying. My Sylvain is an absolute monster. Got a chain 3 consecutive attack 3 sword on him as trickster and he just melts the maps in seconds.
I also use Sylvain and he’s amazing in this game as a holy knight or honestly whatever you want to make him, I haven’t finished the game yet but his personal ability is just so OP. Especially when holding X as any mounted class gets you so many hits as long as you keep the enemies in the air (besides Dark Knight I guess)
didn’t put my sylvain through warlock (might do soon tho!) but i did have him go through basically every physical class and now he tears through absolutely everything. i feel like i could solo a map with just him, he’s that strong
Wait their are other characters in this game????? Lmao i have been using shez and just shez every map. He makes s ranking every map on any difficulty so easy becuase he has the speed boost movment ability thing. And since he can be any class with the available movment speed thing idk he is currently level 55 on my azure gleam compared to everyone else who is just in par to the maps required level. So rn like 40-45.
Teachable combat arts would make for a great separate video! I’m trying to get all teachable magic on Hubert but it’s seeming like black magic (versus his niche of dark magic) just won’t stick to him even when support is maxed & his magic is at an A

8:16 To be honest, I just used the battalions to counteract the weapon triangle. E.G. Giving a sword wielding Shez a battalion that is strong against Lances. I doubt I’m adding to the damage output, but I’ve always preferred survival over power. (Which is also why I hate the Defiant Skills.)
But in practice, you almost never go near lances with a sword unit. And if you absolutely need to do so because there are several weapon types in the same area, you should be focusing on dodging the lance enemy, not tanking it. You might wanna reconsider the strategy.
@@strayingwill Idk about that. You bring units onto each map that you enjoy playing as the most. If your favorite units are all sword and lance based, and you dislike axe play style, why would you bring axes onto the map? It's pretty easy to accidentally have your sword units face lance enemies when you don't bring axe units into the chapters because you dislike their combat etc.
@@strayingwill You can equip the axe battalion to both the sword and the lance units. It's basically just however you wanna play. My Shez often needs to teleport to areas with high volume of enemies. Sometimes that includes Pegasus knights and cavaliers. Which means having anti lances is useful for him/her.
@@l.n.3372 you can also assign an adjutant to Shez and warp together. You can either unassign the adjutant, or do an A-special. Shez has full Warrior gauge at practically all times. Especially if you’re usually in control of him. I should also note that I’m not trying to tell you how to have fun. If that’s the way you have fun, then by all means do it and ignore me. I’m just saying, for optimizing damage and doing things faster while not dying, which is the point of discussion of the video, assigning “defensive” batallions doesn’t really do much.
Gold is so easy to earn in this game, even if you don't break all the money pots on the maps. I've been doing a lot of grinding, trying to S-rank every mission, leveling up unused characters, and consistently gain 10k - 30k worth of gold per mission. And I'm only halfway through Scarlet Blaze.
I have a trickster sylvain with a chain 3 consecutive attacks 3 sword of Zoltan. It’s amazing lmao it’s like he’s speed swinging a giant lance sized sword.
I was using Paladin Lorenz and I just had a perfect string were I was attacking a group of enemies and his ability just kept protecting him for like a minute. It was beautiful.
I've had a lot of fun experimenting with classes on other various characters. Sylvain's unique skill, increasing damage and range as his combo increases, applies to /all/ weapons and classes. So making him a mage or an archer is so immensely fun.
Not to mention there is an item that you can eventual gift a rank support units, to get their unique skill to put on any unit. So my Shez has Syl's unique skill, and it is crazy
I'm new to fire emblem series and this game. Tho I only understood 30% of what u said, this is the type of beginner video guide I'm looking for. There's no much guide that target players who are new to this series, they thought everyone play a lot of fire emblem. Hope to see more beginners tips that's have in-depth explanation. Thank you

As someone obsessed with using the warrior and Awakening gauges I built my Dimitri with all the skills that give him his gauges filled up. He is a monster now
Annette is my investment unit so far. She gets an awesome combination of Crusher being her weapon, Dual Onslaught, Luna, and amazing attacking stats that makes her such a joy to just rip and tear through units.
I also really like how character's personal skills influence my decision making on how to build them even beyond the unique skills they learn from classes. As an example, a number of units I like to run Impossible Feat, Lifeline and Defiant skills if they have good defiants to run and they deal tons of damage, but Shez who absolutely could do this as well gains more warrior guage when hes above 50% due to one of his personals (accounting for max training). Thats why I load up on a ton of warrior guage boosting skills, cyclical specials, and make sure they have an adjutant with max support and try to go for as many warrior specials as I can. I've only done one playthrough on Hard Azure Gleam but this might be one of the only musou titles I actually try to hit 100% for, having a blast
Pretty fun and insightful video! Personally I've only done 2 runs on GD so far (one NG and one NG+) and I used a build that maximized Warrior Gauge. Stuff that boosts fill rate and damage. Even though I've been playing as Female Shez and haven't picked up Essence of Darkness I did get Pact from Gremory which is nice. Only other thing I've experimented with is Trickster Marianne because Blutgang has Witstrike.
In post game when you can't use the trainer to boost class exp, I just use whoever i'm training with a knowledge gem in the zahras chapter. Crazy how fast it is and you get good money at the same time.
Teaching combat arts will be a good plan for me to do. To be honest I don't really need to change much of my favorite unit (Marianne, dancer class) build since she does well with Beast Fang and Fimbulvtr (especially with Essence of Ice boosting her unique action and the spell itself), however I do have tons and tons of units with lvl 3 combat arts, I could try and teach some of the stronger ones (like Deadeye for example) to my favorite units.
Essence abilities for all three lords don't actually add damage or do anything for them, even though if they activate, because of their personal abilities. It's weird (possibly an oversight) but true. Their unique abilities and essence doesn't stack, the latter legit just gets canceled out.
@@JunHyungthatMixedKid they do but it has to be Combat Arts with that element already. In Dimitri’s case that means you’d have to use Thunder Rush over something like Atrocity.
I’ve played about 70 hours and I lowered so much. Thank you I was waiting for a guide. This may sound selfish but could you do one explaining the maddening difficulty? I’m still working towards finishing the game
Maddening is unlocked once you beat the game once, but it's SO difficult that you're pretty much forced to play it on NG+ if you want a chance at clearing it. For reference, the first battle of Chapter 4 is against level 100 enemies with forged weapons at +70.
I will confirm that Maddening is definitely intended for exclusively ng+. Something interesting though I thought, while yes the enemies in the first battles of chapter 4 are level 106 they are not promoted units, meaning you still fight myrmidons and fighters in the early chapters even if their levels are inflated.
Not giving any spoilers but Linhardt is incredibly good. Went Azure Gleam first and now am working on Golden Wildfire, Linhardt has so much free regen available to him that he completely offsets the health lost and increased damage received costs from some passives. Probably my most reliable mage at the moment, don't think there is really anyone who can compete with his crowd control and self sustain while doing respectable damage.
Leonie or anyone else that can learn the Sol skill also have ridiculous sustain. The skill is learned from the Falcon Knight class on a few characters. Very powerful heal when defeating commanders.
I may want to min max either Caspar or Edelgard if she learns a certain axe art which is pretty much busted. Also, there's an item after half of the game that (minor spoiler I guess) let's you get an accessory to change a unit's special ability for another's, but it's one per playthrough, so you'll be getting like 3 if doing all routes. There are a ton of good abilities that could be better on better characters
I knew pretty much everything, but still a fun video. My favorite character and class are spoilers, but not related. Overall I like the class system, it's fun and offers a lot of freedom. But I wish it had more individuality. Like I have trouble caring for Monica because in gameplay I, on Edelgard's route, already have 3 mages I like better, Shez uses magic, plus the Ashen Wolves girls. It feels like I only use her because I try to use everybody, not because I enjoy her.

This gave me the idea to have my Shez and Edelgard get their respective essence abilities. Currently grinding the beginning chapters to get them to master everything through battle.
@@_Just_Another_Guy I did that as well with Claude. Until I realize that the essence abilities don’t work on the lords as their personal abilities are essentially the essence abilities so I reset a save and put training points into other characters classes
I made edelgard a monster by stacking every damage skill I could get, especially the one that gives her damage proportional to how much more charm she has than the opponent. Pair that with a dancer adjutant with charm rally and that combination alone is a huge boost.
My first time playing i picked blue lions. I ended up making dimitri magic based due to his personal skill changing all attacks to lightning attacks. It was amazing cause he cut through any commander he ran into without using his weapon art.
Battalions can be great because you can use a certain weapon type battalion opposite to the unit you put it on to basically nullify effectiveness against your unit. Heck you can even use them to gain effectiveness against an enemy unit.
And here I was, telling myself I was not going to bother optimizing and grinding too much in the first 2 playthrougs so as not to be "burnt out" by the time I do AG, the one I'm looking forward the most, as the third path... *is on prologue of her first run, already researching*
Throughout the story I always gave Shez a lance battalion that resisted swords so that I could actually fight Byleth without getting killed by a few hits lol

I am 15 hours in the game, and never realised the second-third page on the class promotion page. I am so mad at myself for not knowing sooner. But holy hell, this is a lot of intricacies and depth for a warriors-musou game. Are they usually like this?
Nope usually not haha. The most complex ones are the empires subseries of their games due to the risk like nature of the strategy of the game compared to a few stories you follow
While my thoughts on the story are.... complicated, and the gold grind is a real pain, I still enjoy this game overall and the combat is a big reason why
Breaker abilities are pretty funny in this game. I find that most female mages make for great dancers due to how the dancers function in the weapon triangle. They naturally counter tomes for whatever reason so females now have a way to spec into a tome breaking class. Unlike something like war master however they also don't have negative affinity against bows and you learn bowbreaker from most of the female mages in the game so you can make a dancer that is good against Bows, Gauntlets and magic. a great all rounder for that side of the tree and also a good option for maps that are heavily populated by 2/3s of that weapon triangle. Yes, this also means that breaker abilities in this game are universal and not class based, which makes your class building options more special

Honestly, I really hope this community effort to identify every art that can be learned through the Peer Training system turns out well, I REALLY wanna make sure I can learn everything possible. I do have one curious question though. Is it possible for female Shez to acquire Essence of Darkness by learning it as Male Shez, then using New Game Plus?
I have 2 Questions and i would really appreciate if someone could answer them. First does Jeritzas Deathknight class use the magic or strength stat to calculate his regular and Strong attack damage and second does the "Essence of Fire" skill benefit Edelgards Emperor Class? Would rly appreciate help with this one!
From my own testing Death Knight's normal attacks are strength and the strong attacks are magic. Essence of Fire does benefit the emperor class, I believe all the "Essence of X" state they benefit class actions of the matching element.
Running sword bernadetta build for fun. As a thief her fire sword combat art obliterates lance units, and I mean, lance units who are 10 levels above her in mere seconds. I actually had to reset because I defeated scarlet blaze ch5 final boss so quickly that I couldn't kill 1500 enemeis
So what is the stat limit after getting the upgrade in tactics to push past it? And can I go further using the permanent stat boosting items? Also how would I go about farming them? I’d like to find a map or chapter I can do on repeat to get a bunch quickly rather than just repeating the whole route again and again using renown
Resetting lvs doesn't really appeal to me since the stats reset too. I make sense if u want to permanently change a character but the cost is... outrageous
Pretty sure the elemental Essence abilities don’t work on personals, it doesn’t work for Bernadetta and Shamir But Fiendish Blow usually does if it’s elemental, afaik
Pretty sure essence skills only work on Combat Arts, Spells, and Strong Attacks that are natural to the class. I experimented with Essence of Lightning Dimitri (I actually got every essence to experiment on my 1st playthrough) and even though Dimitri's personal skill gives lightning to all attacks it did not get any benefit from the essence. Mages make great use since gremory and Warlock strong attacks cover most elements and do benefit, and I believe the elemental strong attacks of Mortal Savant also benefit as well. It does limit what classes get good use from them but generally its worth a slot imo if you have a good combat art that shares the character's essence skill.
all imma say is Lorenz's personal skill is BROKEN. had Shez whistle him just to get a second one. it makes these units invincible. wild abandon then makes these units just plain stupid. I constantly clean chapters with 1 or 0% damage taken, with 3 minutes to spare for S rank. I almost Wana stop using it because it's that good
chapter 11 of scarlet blaze and my Shez is level 97, why use any other unit? Playing on hard, hopefully there's a maddening mode once you've beaten the game once
Are we sure GROWTHS are in this game and not classes give bonus points on level up? I tested this with 4 warriors each in one class to lvl50, got to level 50, recored stats, reset level, got to level 50 again, and at the end stats were the same. As a WARRIORS game that makes sense because classes just give free stats instead of RNG ruining level-ups like a true FE game and you use stat up items to offset class grinding bonus points.
How long does it usually take for a unit to learn a combat art/magic? I’ve been trying to get a renown character to learn Meteor from Monica and they just don’t seem to want to learn it, even though they’re at C rank support.
I often forget to sell bullions, and always feel silly when I remember, as there’s a ton of money in those. Be sure to use the supply depot’s upgrades to improve the war chest, as those increase the money you gain from battles. Speaking of battles, take a second to break brown pots, as those hold free money. Lastly, recruit Balthus, who is available on all routes, as his unique ability allows him to get money by just keeping up a combo, and when you upgrade the ability, it activates on smaller combos while yielding more money.
I haven't tested it but you might go for a new game + playthrough and get it from male Shez, and on the third playthrough it will carry over probably. Again I haven't tested it so I advise you to do more research.
Update: Yes you can. I'm on my third playthrough and female Shez will have Essence of Darkness if you've unlocked it in a previous playthrough with male Shez.
just gotta counteract the damage taken in some way, I use it on Marianne and pair her with a mounted adjutant while she uses Blutgang, I also used the Merc Whistle on Catherine so Marianne uses her ability instead to increase damage
I was planning on getting the game somewhen this month, but I'm really not so sure at this point. Between basically all the early classes being on some point of the spectrum of "Either this is super slow or lacks range" besides Shez's personal class(so the demo basically gave me the mindset of "just never switch control and Shez it") and this sounding incredibly overcomplicated for very little reason, it just sorta doesn't vibe with the warriorsfan-part of me.
This hole time I thought the reset option is for people who play new game plus and don't want an already max level team, but I guess rerolling stats is the real point
Had NO idea how the hell picking up skills worked - some characters would pick up +500 HP and some wouldn't - was going backwards and forwards trying to teach this to my characters Thankfully, this video explains how the fucking *Y* button works so I know who can learn it and who can't xD
