I usually don't make comments. I want to let you know that I have throughly enjoyed your vids. The comedy is outstanding. I laugh constantly at your side comments. I even pause your vids just to read your disclaimers, statements. However, losing your financial sponsor because of being butt hurt. I am tired of these overly sensitive b#S%A$DS. They think of nothing to offend other classes, people. I will continue to watch your vids. Thanks for all the time you spending the time to share your talents. I hope you never go politically correct ever. You should be able to state whatever is on your mind. Screw the negativity.
Amen. People need to lighten up instead of finding reasons to get offended. The gentlemen who makes these is a creator. Don't let some vocal minority of consumers harsh your mellow. Keep up the good work and be you 100%, even if a few people get pissed along the way.
Figured I'd comment, just to say thanks. Bought a crf450x to practice off roading and stunts. Since I've had spare time, I've been doing well. Manage to keep a 2-8 second wheelie whilst sitting, standing up i get too much wobble from side to side. I also found i tend to turn the handle bars by accident which results in an brutal landing. Still practicing, still re-watching. 🖒🖒
Excellent video. I’d like to add, for those who’re new to this, it may help to try their technique in second gear first and get small wheel hops mastered first before going for the taller wheelies in first gear.

+VroomVroomDana timing timing timing! i've had a few guys say even after a few months they would never get it, then suddenly the timing comes together and there's no stopping them....
Gotta practise this more. Was only trying sit-down ones on the CRF250L. Or I've gotta convince you to come see the farm and steal some techniques from you while you're here :)
well, you old bastards are pretty damn awesome. Thanks for all the great videos and advice. My buddy and I started riding about a year ago and have progressed beyond what we thought we were capable of in just one year. We watched/watch your videos fairly regularly and practiced what you preached. you are doing more of a service than I think you know! Anyway, enough ass kissing from me. keep it up! If your interested in watching a bunch of gumbies figure this stuff out the hard way over here in Washington State, check out my channel it would be an honor.... mostly. cheers mates!
Tried doing these techniques in the dirt with my DR650, and it didn't work! Lol just lost a ton of traction! Haha I need to work at it to get the bush pig dancing. She's a heavy girl... Thanks for all the vids, I really enjoy them! Very helpful!
likewise tim, although i did manage to work out how things sometimes needed to be done slightly differently on the big girl ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RA0R37FnLeM.html
CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS I think I just need an anodized fuel cap. That must be my issue.... I'm just a bit a of a bonehead. I know that bike is probably a bit too big to be learning these things on, but I'll probably do it anyway. Haha who knows, maybe I'll get it some day.
+Ash Trix an advanced wheelies vid is on the waiting list, ash. but probably won't do it for a while because i know most viewers say they are struggling with the long straight wheelie still.
I'm not sure if I agree that learning an extended wheelie is not really necessary. I feel if I had the long wheelie skill it would help my riding immensely. For example: When climbing very steep hills, I wouldn't freak out every time I start to get close to the balance point. It would also help me in situations where I wheelie but a rock has kicked my bike to one side or the other. If I knew how to do long wheelies, I feel I could steer the bike better while the front was still in the air. Then I could stay on the gas longer and in more control. Also I feel learning pivot turns would be much easier if I had already mastered the long wheelie. For me the long wheelie is something I really need to knuckle down and learn and I feel the fact I haven't forced myself to learn them is holding me back. BTW great videos, all of them.
+lowlypawn totally agree pawn of low stature... in the vid i think i said the long wheelie is mostly irrelevant but it certainly has its moments for the thing you said and also getting over a wide sheet of water or a pile of ruts or rocks etc. and as you say you start to not fear the balance point too. but most of all it's just fun of course. :D
Good video! It nicely refreshes wheelie topic. In our recent training coach explained very similar points for practical wheelies and he also emphasized the need to work on elbows up and wide habit when learning wheelies as it provides more control during subsequent phases for log hoping, etc. I can help translating into Lithuanian although not sure how many more there are watching who don't understand English ;)
+Mindaugas Milašauskas doh, great point on the elbows mindaugas... i've just put an annotation in the video. chris birch kept telling us the elbows should be up and out all the time. thanks for the offer of translating, i'll leave it to your judgment. i suppose the majority of lithuanian riders would have enough english to understand the vids, and I usually try to put enough text and slow motion bits in to make it easier. :)

It hurts :(. It would be great to have a facility, a wheelie course: A short track with a rail overhead. On the rail sliding ropes to support the rider and the bike. So the ride's body cannot hit the ground and the bike can not fall completely. I think the bike should have kind of a short mast attached to prevent falling back as well. Lifting the rail with one end higher could slide the bike back to the start. The first exercise should be falling on purpose to get the confidence in the system. I would love to hang around there :)
Thank you for the vids, these have helped me quite a bit. The good info and humor makes me wish i could make it from Arizona to Australia for a first hand meet up. Just read the intro on this vid and gotta say, "Screw them if they can't take a joke." Keep up the good work ya Gumby!
Nice content, in the video it mentioned compress the front fork, for CRF250L it is very stiff, what should i do to make me it soft so that i can compress it easily, thanks for the video
Instructions unclear: my bike is gutless and from the previous century, I'm fat as can be, dropping the clutch stalls it and I am still mastering not falling out of bed in the morning.
+ArmasADVish hablas espanol? excellente! i've never done any but apparently it's fairly easy according to mike from russia. when done he just lets me know because i have to officially approve them to be visible to the public. i suspect this wheelie one would be a good start. all the english text is in the video description.... thanks and good luck! oh and here are the instructions: support.google.com/youtube/answer/2734796?hl=en
100% 😂 finally got past the balance point without shiting myself and could go backe and forth the point with the rear brake and gas, had to force myself to do the basics, wheel up with the right throttle power and as soon as up hit the rear brake, I used to put both feets on the ground when only coming close to the point, with a surron, so hand rear brake, and didn’t hit the rear brake, now that I have learned to cover the rear brake I no longuer drop my feet, hit the brake gently and throttle up again, now I need to learn to rock back and forth smoother and to keep right left balance, still can’t figure out how to steer while weelie
Had this clip saved in my Favorites for some time, then finally today I decided to try the tips out. And WOW, absolutely works a treat! My heavy, seeming un-powerful CRF250 Rally popped up in the air no dramas- so long as the timing was spot on. Even lifted the wheel in second- which I never thought possible. So thanks for the tips, they work a treat- even on bikes that you think could never wheel stand.
pretty cool hey? we had a girl last week doing wheelies on the same bike and at first we thought this is very unlikely to happen... but then off she goes!
Another great video! I was taught that when I compress the suspension to drop your knees instead of pushing down on the bars. You drop your knees, then push hard into the pegs to again extend your leg. As you your legs extend fully the suspension will start rebounding and that's when you apply a bit of power. Most of the guys in the video aren't doing this but watch Chris Birch. He's doing it. Watch his knees.
Haha. Talking about not being able to wheelie due to a lack of power. I remeber leaving school on my old Honda Px 50. It had 1,5 hp, an automatic clutch and a max speed of 25kph.Then while leaving somebody wanted me to do a wheelie. Their faces were priceless seeing that I almost flipped the "bike" over with that little power. But stamping on those (It had pedals like a bicycle) pedals as hard as i possibly could and then almost ripping out the handlebars really did the trick. Although I have to admit that the bike only weighs only about 60 kg but remeber: It only had about 2 hp.
I'm sitting here watching this preparing myself to start learning on my kx450f for this summer. I think I'll go ahead and order a few rear plastics now :)
Great vid I suck at wheelies and that so hopefully this will help. One question could you do a video about what tools it is best to take with you on a dirt bike ride with additional info on what tools to bring for a tubeless and regular tyre set up please. Thanks
awesome tips and instruction. and your voice, tone and speed you talk is great. really helpful stuff, can't wait to get the bike fixed and try it all out. take care dudes!
Another great video! About the gay bit in the last one, I was surprised that yokes are associated with gay culture in Australia?? Also, I've heard they're like 40 of your laminated plastic dollars each! Haha unlucky! :)
our pleasure. if your riding buddies are learning the same stuff they can watch you too and spot stuff you are missing. and of course if you get coaching you get a gazillion things pointed out. 😂
Everyone thinks its funny until they think its them being made fun of. Too bad, I thought it was funny, didn't sound gay to me, more urban hipster speak and if they don't deservbe to be made fun of.... Then again, I'm not one to look for insults, unless you make fun of the Nuked-Gay-Whales of years gone by.
Hi Ian, i saw on a thread in ADV that you fitted a 43t rear sprocket and this is what i want to do too! I am having trouble finding one for my 2017 CRF250L Rally? Have you any idea where i might buy one please? + are you still running this sprocket? The 14 t front and 43t rear sounds like just what i want! Thanks for your assistance..... PS great helpful video here thanks!...
I can stand up wheelie my 1980 Honda xl100s in 1st,2nd and 3rd with out the clutch. It has about 4 hp. It's NOT that hard to wheelie an old underpowered bike.
+CROSS TRAINING, ENDUROCROSS & ENDURO TECHNIQUES generally on a flat ground just for practice would it be better to use 2nd so throttle response isn't as sharp ? after your videos I had to go with the beta 300rr 😉 love it !!
+Mathew Jones as per the first comment too many variables for me to comment. i'd suggest try various gears and see what seems to work best. nice choice on the RR too, woohoo!
I can’t seem to get the front wheel up at all on my 200cc enduro, I’ve been trying and searching on RU-vid for at least 2 months and every time I go out and try it seems like my front wheel is glued to the floor. I’ve come to the conclusion that my bike is too heavy for my 200cc motor however I’ve seen people wheelie my exact bike🤷🏽♂️ idk I need help I want to be able to at least do a baby wheelie but no matter if i pull as hard as I can on the bars and rev and dump the clutch, my front wheel stays on the floor and I get a violent tug motion that is very demotivating….. I’ve been able to get the front wheel to come up about 2mm by grabbing the tank with my knees and yanking as hard as I can backwards in first gear which really scrapes up my knees all for a not that impressive wheelie😒🙁 someone please help me all the information I’ve found has been for bikes that can initially power wheelie where as mine can’t 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Everything you need to know is in this vid (also see the wheelie mistakes vid). Ideally you probably need to get coaching... you'll be getting one of the basics work but just aren't aware of it.
I really like this video because besides showing masters of the technique it also shows how it looks when you don't know what you're doing, and the result (gaining too much speed). This is instantly recognizable and gives me hope I will get the hang of it.
+Dominic Abbott it can be very frustrating at first dominic, i remember a friend who said he would never get the hang of it despite a few hours of monitoring his progress. but a few months later he was doing ridiculously long wheelies after several practice sessions each week... he was a bit obsessive-compulsive about it lol!
Хороший контент, спасибо тем кто создал его! Было бы очень полезно для райдеров из России если поддержали идею Михаила Т. с переводом, и лучше с озвучкой, т. к. Руководство грамотное и располагает к тренировке, с шутками тем более!) Hello, Thank You for intresting content! This is good helper when i want trainig. Очень редко есть возможность потренироваться с грамотным человеком.
Best wheelie training ever. Great stuff. And if you'd like a Kiwi to translate from Aussie into English so everybody else can understand ya', let me know.
+Rob McDermott strewth that would be bonza, bloke! :D yeah this training vid should have happened a long time agao rob, well before the pose wheelie vids i put up last year.
Hey there, another fan... problem is I try all your techniques why my KTM990 adventure hahaha, a tip heavier... but still, your workouts "work"... ANYWAY - ITALIAN TRANSLATOR HERE FOR YOU... ciao a presto e mi raccomando scriviiiii e continua cosi
Still struggling with this technique, can't get and inch up the groud 😂 I think my mistake was trying it without standing on the bike. I hope to make it this weekend!
Hey. I've been trying this for a couple rides now. I can't seem to get the front tire up past a foot without a kicker. I'm on a stock drz. Could my tire be slipping too much? Do you have any extra advice? I really want to be able to wheelie whenever I want. I love your videos, keep it up.
So I'm out trying to practice these techniques and getting nowhere. I'm also thinking about how in the hell I can cover the rear brake when I have the front wheel up (I'd get it up accidentally occasionally). After the 30th time watching this vid, I see that I'm not pulling *back* on the bars, I'm pulling up, like my bike is some kind of rubber band between my handlebars and my pegs. Once I started pulling back, the wheel would come up much easier and since I'm leaning back with the bike, my boot continues to cover the brake. The tiniest details! :-)
+Arno Jones glad you got it sorted arno. it's why the vids are only a guide of course, and i always think coaching in person helps so much... or at the very least get your riding buddies to watch your technique, or film you so you can watch it later. :)
0:38 I came here to confirm it. Tried this today on my street (almost no travel on suspension) extremely overgeared (you need to hold clutch very long while setting off, otherwise it dies) bike, and front wheel went up no problem.
I'm just curious, ... is anyone else out there trying to learn how to do this on a Suzuki DR650? That bike is *heavy* and I'm having a heck of a time getting the front wheel to lift. I'm sure it's a matter of clutch/throttle timing, which brings me to my next question: My clutch doesn't fully engage when I use the "one finger" method. My other fingers prevent me from pulling the clutch lever all the way back. Of course, using all fingers doesn't leave me with enough on the bar to manipulate the bike. Should I get one of those bent clutch levers that's made for the "one finger" operation?
Russian subtitles or voice would be great! I can only leave comments or sort of 'beta-test'' when you do it, so i am not a professional translator) Tnak you for your lessons. Especially for the practical side of your excercises, like you did with weellie. Looking forward your next lessions and tutorials.
Great Video!! A skill I lack and will master someday. Better not see any compromise in the future. Either everyone takes the abuse/fun or go home. I hope the $$ lose wasn't large. Keep up the jabs. They are good for us!
Loving the vids. I am slipping over from road to dirt and these are as funny as they are inspirational. You might have been asked but I can't be arsed looking for it but what model are the Klim grey pants. I like them as they don't have too much bloody advertising. Hate buying something that makes me look like a billboard. Thanks in advance
Hello, i been watching you almost a year ago now. Learnd a lot, and i was reviewing another random video, when i notice that you mentioned a supporter in Russia, with willing of translating to their language. Im from Uruguay, maybe we can arrange spanish translations. Or maybe google does the job already hehe. Regards !
Hi Barry, I'm a bit confused about pulling on the bars. As the forks rebound should I be pulling on the bars, or pushing so that my weight moves further back? I had thought that some earlier vids said to push.
+Richard Shepherd never any pushing the bars once the suspension is rebounding, richard. it's really a combo of pulling the bars and weight to the rear, i'll say these interchangeably because different guys respond differently to what's said, if that makes sense. the ideal is to film yourself in slow motion. e.g. not to criticise andrew on the xtrainer in the vid, but you can see in the early part of the vid how his technique isn't quite right compared to mine (which still isn't perfect of course!).
Best disclaimer yet!!! Sorry about my far too uptight countrymen....and women.....they need more beer and less TV....or maybe some 2T mix to mellow them out.
I'm very light and not strong enough for my bike lol, the suspension is very stiff and set up for an adult rider, I'm 15 lol.. So any tips? I can barely compress the front forks more than a centimeter
How much trottle do i have to give in order to get the front tire up quickly? Or in other words: how do you get your front tire up so fast !!? Cause many times i need much trottle to get the front tire up and im afraid my bike could fly away from me :( help me please!! Love your channel ;)
I'm just curious about one thing. In a previous video you mentioned NOT to push down on the handlebars because both the rear and front suspension have to be loaded otherwise the rear tire will lose traction and spin. How come dabbing the front brake is advised then, considering it's a more severe version of weighting the front suspension?
There Evening Riding A 2 Stroke With A 4 Stroke Has A Some Torque 2 Strokes Got That Powerban Now Do Correct Me But Dont Be A Dick I Have Never Rode A 2 Stroke
The problem of using the front brake while standing wheely is that the twist of your wrist is very much limited because you have to keep always your finger on the brake. And moving the FB lower does not solves the problem (
Hard enduro seems apealing but I only have a heavy nx650 (basically the same as a DR650). Time to learn balance and wheelies, I think it will take me forever but hey, it will improve riding and enjoyment Also I noticed that being good at your own body balance or on a bicycle, helps you ride motorcycles better.
The one thing that stands out in this video.... is how damn long the outer fork leg is on that Beta 4 stroke! What the hell? Looks like it has very little suspension travel. Or is that just an optical illusion perhaps by the fork guards being much longer than usual
Thank you so much for this really helpful tutorial. Many people don`t see the genuine value of a short wheelie. It is something you must perfect if riding off road.
I have a problem with covrring the rear brake. what happens is every time I go to cover it I accidentally press to hard on it and use it before I can even wheelie. is this just because of the rear brake being positioned to high? or maybe I'm just putting to much pressure on the pegs?
Love you channel!!! New to dirt bikes and can't get all the timing down for a wheelie. Any vid on how to wheelie without using the clutch? Wondering if that would be a better place to start.
