Another tip: don't directly follow the person in front of you. It kind of shows in the video, but you don't know if someone will lay a trap or trail. If you're behind someone, especially the leader, go a little wide. It's better to lose time by not taking an optimal line than it is to get hit. I also think if you're good at a track, try to front run unless if it's a big time sandbagger like Cheese Land or Kalamari Desert.

My tip is whatever happens, try to have fun. I'm from germany and I constantly see comp players sweating it up with the best combos even if they go against 1000 VR babies, always being like ¾ laps ahead. This won't really help you improve, but most importantly, it's boring as hell. You do you, but I only went against total newcomers once, stomped them and just felt bad, I would rather play something else than having that experience over and over again. If you go against people much worse than you, try to spice it up and use a bad combo and see if you can still do all the tricky shortcuts. Or maybe use a different control style, I use the directional buttons on the joycons for example to not ruin the sticks. Long story short: Find a way for you to enjoy the game so you don't burn out. 15:26 - "what is this guy doing?!" - like, every mario kart race 😄 great tips, thanks! the most useful one for me was just to avoid others - don't drive the same line, when in the pack use the different (even if slightly longer) route, etc. ... unless i get mario karted at the goal line, i typically jump up couple of places at the very end, cuz everyone else is too busy hitting each other and i just pass around on the outside trailing the banana i got on lap one...

I find I'm usually at my most dominant when at the menu before I start racing I select single player against easy bots. Maybe this tip is in the video idk haven't watched yet.
