How to Download Offline Maps in Google Maps? In this tutorial, I show you how to download offline versions of Google Maps to your iPhone or Android phone. This means you can use Google Maps without using data or the internet. Offline Google Maps include not only map data but also allow you to use offline navigation. Follow the steps below to download offline maps in Google Maps:
1. Open Google Maps on your iPhone or Android phone.
2. Select your Google profile icon in the top right of the app next to the search bar.
3. In the menu, select Offline maps.
4. Once Offline maps opens, choose Select Your Own Map
5. Select the area of the map you would like to download and choose Download
6. You have now download offline maps in Google Maps

Awesome brother thanks!! This is exactly what I couldn't do it popped up a few times to download offline but I couldn't get it to work. So does this mean your GPS still works on the map if it's offline or not?

Yes, GPS is independent, so no internet connection is required for it to work, and for these offline maps it's enough to navigate if you have GPS. GPS is only unavailable on hard to get places, like deep forests, deserts, and so on.

@@lukaslipka9117 GPS is supposed to work anywhere in the world. Dense forest areas may prevent the GPS signals from reaching the phone, but in the desert there is nothing to prevent it.

Can you adjust the size of the square? Not sure if I was doing something wrong. I couldnt change size of square.

it's stupid that google map can not change the size or the ratio of offline map, when u adjust the map size, the square size is also adjusted, like a fixed-size square and u can only move the map but not able to customize the map u really need.

Thank you for this video . I travel the country in an RV There are times when GM says "searching for GPS" . I always download the map for the area that I'm traveling before leaving but it doesn't seem to work for navigation. How can I use downloaded maps for navigation? Am I even able to do that? I think that was removed. It was pretty bad and glitched alot, like you would search for a gas station but it wasnt on the perimeter that was downloaded. Just good on paper but not in practice

Thanks for the informations but I can do this by capturing (screenshot) the place from the map and it is saved, but I don’t see this much helpfull because I still cannot see how the path(route) is from my loaction to the desired location.

I do this when I take a flight that does not have a map on the seat back screen. Even though My phone/tablet are in flight mode the GPS still works so I can see where I am.

Hi! Superb! Thnx. One question: can this map data (say if I select the whole of Pakistan, and download and save on phone) be transferred to car's nav unit via a USB? (Yes, car's unit has Google Maps; I lost its map data while doing sm settings). Pls do a video, or at least reply with a step by step.

Not sure if you can do that. But if the car you are using has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto once you plug in your phone to the car it will use the maps on your phone to navigate by displaying it on your cars center screen. So, when I traveled around Scotland with no data plan. I downloaded offline maps to my phone at hotel wifi and then used the above technique to travel around between areas of Scotland.

@@4n6iscool Hmmmm.....Thnx. Worth a try. By plugging in my phone to the car, you perhaps mean making a wifi hotspot n linking car unit to it? Or, usung a USB data cable between car unit and my phone? And [am a non techie oldie ;-)] wd I need to 'help' the car unit to reach the pertinent folder on the phone? Or car's nav software will finds its way to the offline map data file in phone's Google Maps? Sorry! Take your time.

FaridRedmi4a Ansari first you need to figure out if your car’s head unit (stereo/infotainment system) is compatible with AppleCar Play or Android Auto. If not what I said above will not work. If yes you need a smartphone that has the most updated operating system. The car should have a USB port that is marked in your cars manual to use when using a smartphone.

FaridRedmi4a Ansari your next step is to look up that model’s specs to see if it supports Android Auto. Some head units need the phone to be plugged in and some radios can be wirelessly connected to your phone for Android auto to work. Good luck!

Once you download the offline section of Google Maps, how do you use that section of the map once you're offline and physically in the area you've downloaded? For example, if I downloaded Lisbon and I'm traveling in Lisbon without cell service, do I just enter the area in Lisbon I'm interested in getting directions to like I normally would when I'm online? You can just turn on your GPS, which is can work without internet connection, after that simply open the map and you will be able to use all google maps functionalities for the area you've downloaded

You can download multiple sections of the map. I did this recently on a 3 month road trip. I just downloaded each state.
