I'd advice to NEVER: 1. pick an op hero if you're not comfortable on it 2. pick a hero for the map if you're not comfortable on it 3. pick a hero for the map if you don't know why it's good on the map 4. pick a counter if you're not comfortable on it 5. pick a counter if you don't know why it's a counter Even in grand master people have good winrates with the shittiest heroes, so picking a hero you can play well is still the most important thing (Don't get me wrong, proper drafting is very important, but imo still 2nd in priority)
I agree. I made this video a couple times I think I said this in one of them but might not have made the final cut. I said something along the lines of "Pick your best hero but if you have a wide hero pool drafting should be one of the most important thing." But yes I completely agree with this comment. 100%
I can only agree, I just lost the count for how many times I got matched with players who picked a hero just because according to random shit said on videos/web it's an OP hero… But in an other hand, imagine if you need a tank or support and no one is comfortable tanking or healing and the only one who is, it's perhaps you, and you've already selected spec or DPS… your rule would suggest to let them select what ever they're good with, but remember no heal no tank, how do you call this? - a lose…
Sami Kärkkäinen whenever I don’t know what to do I just pick stitch and that usually wins the game because I’m specifically good at his character and role :P
I found you today in my recommend list and subscibed after watching a few of your videos.. that was a few hours ago and you were at around 800 subs, now already over 1k! Really fast growth man, congratulations :)
More on drafting! I just really enjoy hearing your general thoughts on different heroes for counters, synergy and the stuff about rotations occuring frequently on spidermap is really usefull to me
This is something I do every HL game. Although I would just recommend sorting by popularity and then scanning for the highest winrate heroes in the top 10-15 most popular heroes - 10% popularity is quite low as popularity is the combination of pick/ban rate.
I remember the good old days on lol where you would type as fast as you could for the position you wanted and just ban the new champs cause they where broken. nowadays you pick your role before you start and everyone gets one ban so you just ban who you don't want to lane against. that wouldn't work on hots though because there isn't 5 very specific roles
Sometimes I can't decide whom do i counter, they can pick really bad, so it's just better to pick something strong for the map and who complements your setup. But if need to counter I look at who becomes really useless when countered and makes all enemy team's setup or strategy weak. Let's say there is an Artanis or Tracer, Tassadar and I have a good slot to pick Varian to break the shields and taunt them for easy kill. If you already know there is a solo laner for Braxxis on top you can either pick even better solo laner (if you feel like you can beat them), or you can pick a hero which can rotate fast enough to the top to gank to bring enemy hero to low hp, so they are forced to heal or tp home resulting to your top laner winning the point. If enemy team has a strong pusher like naz, zag, abathur or just really good wave clear - get yourself a wave clear hero or a specialist to do the same thing. If their team consists of 4-5 melee heroes think about strong disengage ults, like Stukov's Flailing Swipe, BW's emerald wind or Falstad's gust. This is how i do it, but it doesn't always work to many other reasons...
Thats exactly what you should be using bans on. This that are strong around your level range. In Unranked I sometimes ban some weird stuff because I have seen it work.
im so good with the heroes i love to play that i dont need to worry about drafts on my level, the problem is people pick heroes that are insane but they cant play them they are like lvl 5-10. you cant do shit with people like that
You can also intentionally ban a specific hero to put the other team on the wrong foot. Like banning Lili at the start to make them draft against a butcher that your team doesn't have.
could work in hero league, but if you're in a 5man team league then, often, the enemy team has a plan on what they'll be picking for the map anyways, so you essentially couldve just wasted a ban
One thing not covered is picking someone as a deny to the other team. Of course you have to be good with them. i.e. you have Illidan, take Arthas as your tank and Lili as your healer.
im just coming here to comment, or rather to say, that i just had 3 games in a row nova or zeratul first pick, insta pickers, having 15k dmg at the end of the match, totally dont know what they are doing....most of the rules in this video dont apply because you cant control people and people will always do what they want, so fuck online gaming, how to pick a "pro" draft when people dont even communicate and pick what they want
