I used to work at a company that had a production manager who insisted that if the swarf was not coming of RED HOT and the spindle load was at 110% then it was not working hard enough! We set up and get everything running nice then he would come round and make us up the feed and speed until the swarf was sticking to the plastic viewing panel! This was with coolant running flat out ! The local tool and repair techs were in once a week to fix the machines and we had a lovely collection of mushroom headed U Drills and some that were totally melted into the work piece!

Great job. Really appreciate the SFP & RPM information to show the capability of the insert drill and machine. On a manual lathe I could never run 1100+ RPM because of the lack of flood coolant drilling.

@LordSaliss
@LordSaliss 2 года назад
No, but it does make a great way to start a hole needing to be bored as it gets you up close to size very quickly and easily. I use a 2" drill like this as well when needing to bore something to around 2-1/4"

Hi guys, in steel the chips are very long Tyson what parameters would you change to make those chips shorter? I would reduce the feed per rotation, because it seems too fast for the chipbreaker
@TITANSofCNC
@TITANSofCNC 2 года назад
It’s the nature of the beast… Stainless doesn’t break as easy but it’s all good… completely normal. More Feed per SFM = better chip break… and shorter cut time.

@@kingofkings600 especially in CNC machines, long chips are not recommended because they could damage the machine
@librasd8087
@librasd8087 2 года назад
@@TITANSofCNC For materials that tend to form long chips there should be chipbreakers on the cutting edge, but perhaps they have been engineered for different working speeds than those used in the video. Anyway I will try to increase the surface feed next time i have this problem, thanks for the reply
