Why didn't you use the actual hardboard insert as a spacer when positioning the two larger pieces, instead of cutting a separate spacer and then trimming the inserts to size? There's probably something I'm missing. Great presentation. I get smarter every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks.

Good question.... We used a spacer with square edges when attaching the hardboard rather than the actual insert with beveled edges because otherwise we run the risk of accidentally gluing in the insert with some stray adhesive.

dviii - it depends on your drill press table but in this case we added some threaded inserts on the bottom and bolted it through the slots in the drill press table (using fender washers.)

how did you mount it and what about the fence? Took a whole lot of time on very simply portion. I got frustrated by the end of it.

It depends on your drill press table, but in this case, we added some threaded inserts on the bottom and bolted it through the slots in the drill press table (using fender washers.) For more info on the fence and mounting, check out the link to free, downloadable plans in the description.

Why not just cut all three pieces of hardboard that you will use for final assembly, lay them down the same way that you did using the plywood center piece, then remove the outboard pieces and mark your base?

I was looking for some safety glasses, I think all videos should mention it, there were none next to the trim router, not throlling just safety, great video

Yan Bousquet - good point we always try to use safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks when needed, but maybe didn't show it on camera this time. 👍

Watch it again, there are glasses and hearing protection on the bench with the router after he uses it. They always stress safety, and put great effort explaining each step with clarity and skill.

Guys, I’m not putting any of it down, video is great, the gentleman is calm explaining the process. I just believe that any public demonstrations in how to use power equipment should include a warning for all that are new to the trade that’s all. Thank you again for the vid, I learned some good things in it, like the 1 point fence and the backer for the table

just cut the 3 sections 90 degrees instead of beveled, drill a hole in the middle section in the back by where the support column is and put a screw in it to hold it in place. No need to make bevels in it. More work than needed the way this guy does it. Also use thicker top board than 1/4 inch...
