2006 carrera owner here as well. 997.1 manual. 130K Miles . Bore scope only now and am fortunate only some bore scoring however it’s my daily driver and I love it. You said it best I drive it and pay to maintain it for my pleasure this isn’t some investment I try to justify. It’s a source of happiness.
No problem with Tiptronic gearbox, even though all the ‘wannabe’ racing drivers slate them. The Tip box is from Mercedes. I had a lot of Mercs before I got into Porsche. Never had a problem.. fast smooth gear changes.
I have 997.1 S. Same color. First gear is very difficult at times. Not sure what causes that. I did change my manual transmission oil, but that did not fix the notchy gear shifting.
I drove a 997.1 2007 and the shifting was ultra smooth. When I had the same issue on my E36 M3 the output shaft on the trans (where the clutch disk slides) was rusty and not lubricated. Replaced w new clutch kit and cleaned and lubricated everything. Shifts smooth as butter.
I have a 2007 997.1 C2S and agree on the transmission issue. Very clunky and shifting is not very smooth from 1st and 2nd gears. Maybe an adjustment or short shifter would fix it.
I test drove a 2007 997.1 and the shifts were smooth butter. Car had 70k miles so may have had clutch done already. Overall a great driving experience.
I'm looking at a 2008 base Carrera C2 with a manual. I have heard they aren't as prone to bore scoring because of the cast pistons. Love the rear wiper on your car. Enjoyed the video.
I have to drive my 997.2 C2S PDK for about 20 mins to get oil to 90* before I can do the auto oil check. It’s a pain cause when you come back from a drive you can easily forget to do the reading. Also my drive is on a slope so I can’t do it there. 400ml is about 1 bar on the gauge. I need to top mine up but have a major service in 2 weeks. Should I bother as I think it will have an oil change then?
