I now have a working Dyson DC14! The grease on the outside of the the rubber motor seal, and the foot on the base to make enough space under the belt to the get the beater in are both very good tips. I couldn't get the other belt over the motor drive, my fingers are just not strong enough, so I used a 90 degree screw driver to do the job and make sure I didn't damage the belt in the process. Thanks again Parwaz.

Thank you, I now know how to replace the motor on my DC07 animal. I think it is the brushes that have worn out as it's 21yrs old now. Good tip about getting a new clutch as it is a bit fiddly to replace the drive belts, and not that much more £'s for the time and effort saved.

Well presented and described. You even edited out the swearing, the threats to throw the stupidly designed lump across the room and the really fiddly bits. But you helped a lot. I did a DC04 a few years ago and it was simple compared to this. Why does Dyson not design for easy maintenance. I mean, who in their right mind, designs a motor, which does not have replaceable brushes. As a design engineer, I always used to look at how easy it was going to fix. Today’s disposable society I suppose.
@parwaz7861
@parwaz7861 3 года назад
I'm glad it helped you! Haha I've done so many of these it was an absolute doddle to do. I don't think it's much harder than a DC04 motor change, the 04 has more screws too. The newer Dysons are way more complex and take much longer to change the motor

Hi! If you've replaced the switch and motor and you're absolutely sure that the wires are certainly connected firmly then it narrows it down to the power cord, it can be hard to find out where exactly they're broken due to the copper wires being internally damaged due to all the stress it receives from years of flexing Also if your plug has a fuse (UK) Check that it isn't blown
