I think you're exaggerating on the salary. Maybe the most profitable boats might pay out that much, but from what I've seen it's more like they make $15k/yr to $315k/yr. I've also heard $50k on a trip over a month or more....but if it really paid as much as you said, far more people would be doing it. $200k per year, is possible, but I doubt it's per 3 day trip. You might be referring to captains, they do get a larger cut.

They move around on the deck too much, and there are already too many lines making it risky on the deck without adding another harness and line. Plus if you could make a 'safe' harness system, the fishermen would have to unattach and reattach so often they'd probably stop doing it at all.

Harness to a cable that run overhead .not saying it would work . But I use to wear a harness and felt it was less than worthless ( in my situation ) . On a ship or boat in rough seas I might want to try a harness

if 200k was what was caught the boat get 100k off the top(that is the owners) for repairs like main engines and gensets of the remaining 100k you pay the bills food fuel and lost gear say 30k for that the remaining 70k the skipper gets a bigger share than the crew ... so say 15-20k now what is left is 10% for each crew except green horns they get 5-7% share !! the real money is in the middle market if they pay the ship 7.50 a pound they sell it for 14 a pound or more then the store rapes the consumers at 25 a pound or more

@@winstonsmith6166Many people don't know that most of the Alaskan red king crab coming into this country is from Russia. Says so on the 10 pound box from Costco. Now it's graded and repackaged here in the US but not caught. Most of what's caught here goes to the Japanese market.

Crabs don't have complex pain receptors like most animals especially mammals. Crabs don't feel anything unless it's temperature change (boiling), their eyes or the shell of their head being damaged or ripped open. But limbs, they don't feel that at all. In the wild they will detach their own limbs if caught by a predator.
