Waste fishing line can be a pain to remove from reels if done by hand. It can also be hazardous to our wildlife if disposed of incorrectly.
In this video, I show you my simple way of removing fishing line and disposing of it safely. This method is also extremely quick to do.

Did Wonder where you had been lately Den In the UK Angling direct and others promote the recycling of line Stopping it going into landfill Being somewhat lazy I have a line spooling machine for line loading Included is a line removal tool not very neat taking it off but it's very fast

I thought the best way to get rid of a waste (waist) line was to cut down on Carbs! Great video by the way.

I have seen fishing shops in the UK that have a bin to recycle line which seems a good thing.

Hi Den. Good to see you back. This is a good idea as most of your ideas are. However, I feel that the majority of line on a spool is perfectly good and doesn't need to be thrown away. What you could do is use 3/4 of it either for hook lengths or to fill a shallow spool. The line that immediately comes off your "waste spool" is fine, it hasn't been exposed to sunlight and it hasn't been used. I would reverse the procedure and wind around 3/4 onto another spool, and store it somewhere out of sunlight for future use. You will be able to tell when you reach the line that has been used, and then throw that away. This not only saves throwing all the line away but saves you money as well. Edit. What you could do is do what you did in this video but just remove about 20 mtrs of line onto the waste spool, then wind the rest onto another spool to keep and re-use.

Good quality Fishing line generally last a lot longer than people concerned with selling the line would claim.. For obvious reasons.

@@FishingwithDen I said I just go to the measuring sticks and take out the line from the reel , bunch up the line in a ball and always set it on fire as it should not be thrown into the trash even if you cut it to pieces since I have seen first person the type of lesions it can cause to wildlife
