Ty for this video. I’m a 25 year old woman and was able to do this on my 2012 Civic with no issue thanks to you and several other repair videos I’ve watched. I’ve replaced my blower motor, engine air filter, and now my thermostat thanks to helpful people like you giving us these gems. This was my first repair that I’ve done under the hood. I was intimidated at first but once I got going I found the confidence to continue. Thank you for saving me money and keeping me educated on my car. I love my civic! These cars are so reliable and relatively inexpensive and easy to repair when issues crop up. I’m a Honda owner for life. Only ever driven Honda’s and they’ve never failed me. 💁🏽‍♀️💙

I was able to change my thermostat using your video. I used the duralast thermostat and peak coolant parts from autozone. Thank you!

Same! Worked like a charm! 💁🏽‍♀️ my coolant looked a wee bit dirty so I’m gonna have my mechanic do a flush soon but for now this will do. 💁🏽‍♀️

When turning the heat in? Do I need to turn the AC on? I saw your AC light on green even when turned to heat.

is it necessary to torque the housing bolts for the thermostat. i asked honda parts they gave me a spec sheet. one mechniac tells me no and another tells me to use a 1/4 in to ft confused torque wrench? in the video he not clear on torque spec. this is for 2013 civic lx sedan.

What’s the part number for the Honda thermostat?

I just did mine today and the fan wouldn’t turn on. I turned the heat all the way up but the AC was off. But when I turn the AC on, the fans come on.

Same for me. You really gotta let it sit and warm up. Once I turned my AC on the fan popped on. Haven’t had any problems. Just be sure u really get all those air bubbles out and maybe check the fan relay.

Does the car need to raised when we drain the coolant ?
@sixspeedofficial

No you don’t have to raise it, but you can if you need to crawl under to reach the radiator drain plug 👍

What is the cause if the cooling fan doesnt turn on? Or was that because my thermostate was broken and the temperature stayed too low to turn on?

Disclaimer: this is just my friendly opinion and I’m not help liable for any reason. Couple things, 1) if the car remains at normal temp without the fan turning on thermostat should be good so I would check if you should replace the radiator fan. 2)if the car overheats without fan turning on, I’d check both thermostat AND radiator fan (thermostat may be bad and isn’t opening up to let coolant flow through and it’s not sending signal to the fan to turn on) 3) could be a bad radiator fan relay (this is rare but it could happen where moisture has entered the relay and corroded it therefore the relay not sending signal to fans to turn on) Disclaimer: this is just my friendly opinion and I’m not help liable for any reason.

@@themartian97 thanks for your input martian! For my car it just took a really long time for all the air bubbles to burp out while i was squeezing the hose. Since i replaced my thermostate my temperatures been regular since!
