Hello! Welcome to a KullySupply How to video! Today, we’ll be showing you how to replace a Spud with a Spud wrench.
First thing’s first, make sure to turn off the water using a flathead screwdriver to turn the shut off valve clockwise. Then loosen the nut from the top of the vacuum breaker tube and the side of the main flush valve body. Remove the main flush valve body from the wall fixture.
Next, unscrew the bottom nut close to the urinal, removing the vacuum breaker tube upwards, revealing the spud. Now, place the Spud wrench into the Spud until it fits perfectly. Using the spud wrench and another wrench, loosen the nut, while using the spud wrench to keep the spud from turning while you loosen it.
Here’s a tip, use a flat head screwdriver to help you pull up the rubber lip from the urinal.
Now, remove the spud. When installing the new spud, make sure to screw up the nut as far up as possible to allow you to place the spud fully into the hole. Lift up the spud slightly while screwing the nut down. Make sure the rubber is placed right up against the urinal. You want to do this, to make sure that a seal is created when the spud is fully installed. After hand tightening the spud against the urinal, use the spud wrench to ensure that it is securely fastened as tight as possible.
Now, reassemble the fixture in the reverse order of how you disassembled it. Starting with the vacuum breaker tube.
You’ll want to hand tighten to ensure that the fixture is straight before doing a final tightening of all nuts. Finally, turn the water back on by turning the shut off valve counter clockwise.
