I knew there was a reason why you are one of my very favorite youtubers. I am 64 and love your channel. I try to watch daily. This video was as if you stepped right into my life and knew just what I needed. Thank you so much. You are such a sweetheart 💕
I have breakfast (big fruit platter) while watching RU-vid videos, I find it very relaxing as it's my me time (I get up early before the rest of the world wakes up). I still enjoy my food and I have something interesting to watch - bliss
Thank you so much for this video! This my life right now. I'm 57 and have alway been in relatively good health my whole life. In the last year, when eating how I always have in the past, my digestive system has reacted differently (ie. feeling overly full, bloated, etc.). I'm not sure why I didn't realize this was related to menopause. As women, we are taught what will happen with your body when you go through adolescence. But either we aren't taught about menopause or I wasn't paying attention, maybe hoping it wouldn't be like that for me! I am finding I DO have to eat differently. I find I am a little resentful that I CAN'T eat the way I always have. I LOVE pizza and chocolate, but I just have to realize I have to eat them differently now. The other difficulty is that menopause affects all women so differently. So it's hard to have a general set of "rules" to follow. But your video is such good advice. AND it's helpful to know that all this is normal and we just have to make some adjustments.
Hi Lucie! Thanks for this video. I’m turning 54 in March and really trying to get back to healthy intuitive eating after many years of perimenopause messing with my body - lots of weight fluctuations, bloating etc. I’ve dabbled in a variety of eating styles over the many years trying to get my weight under control, and I think it negatively impacted my ability to tune into my hunger and satiety cues. I’ve found that I overeat when I’m counting macros because I’m so concerned about hitting my target rather than listening to my body. I’m now fully in menopause and ready to figure out how to eat to slowly drop the 10 lbs I’ve gained over the past 8 years. First step is to tune into my body. Love your content and also love your videos that feature your mom. She’s a great source of inspiration for me!❤❤❤
Hey! I just came across your channel and I love the videos that you put out! I’m only 34, but I enjoy learning about eating for all different stages of life and what I should look forward too as I age. I already notice a decrease in my appetite compared to my 20s. Nothing crazy, but definitely noticeable. I can only imagine it will continue to slow. I LOVE that you emphasized the cultural importance of food as part of a healthy diet as well. That is so important! I’m from America, grew up eating our SAD diet, but as an adult I’ve learned to change my relationship with food, grow my own organic produce, shop at my local organic farm, and eat local meat/fish with a grass fed diet and no hormones/antibiotics and stay away from the junk that I now do not even consider food. A simple nutritious diet has help me heal from a past of disordered eating and I’m slowly learning what a healthy relationship with food is like. Much love! ❤
Hello Lucie - I’m 53 and starting to go through all the issues. Latest is digestion issues causing IBS and hem’s or prolapsed hem (iykyk) and lower estrogen too. It’s a whole new world (not for the better). So what grains do you recommend for me?
As someone who is nearing that age def appreciate this Have already taken on a number of your points over last months I am lucky in that I don’t have any of the usual menopause symptoms that many have but my food intolerances and in one case allergy and IBS have gotten a bit out of control But your overall tips are entirely applicable to any age I think My biggest take away from you was the fact that I realised I am actually not eating enough / and ever since I increased my portions and just allowed myself to enjoy food, lo and behold a number of things improved, incl my digestion and mood With the exception of iron supplements (which I do need) I also did away w all other supplements and that took care of one of my allergies So all in all - your approach and advice is spot on no matter the age group and I think you will find that you have many followers in the 40 to 50 plus range!
Not eating enough is actually an issue I see a lot, so glad to hear that you were able to increase your portions! Thanks for your support, wish you all the best 😊
I'm very antisocial lol and don't like eating with people, I don't focus on the food and the food gets cold and unappetising as I'm busy talking to them. I really prefer to eat alone and just meet other people for coffee
I’m in Chicago now born and raised here so want to go to Paris! I hear that Chicago accent in you! I grew up in Palos Heights about half hour east of Naperville!
Metamucil and magnesium help me keep things MOVING! Because of a long-time history of GRAVES disease, I have osteoporosis/penia and require vit D and Fosamax.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I haven't been getting enough calories, because even though I have been competing in ballroom and doing ballet, I still gained weight after having brain surgery. Your videos have really helped me. I'm so grateful.🤗💝💝
I am allergic to all fresh fruit. I can eat frozen blueberries that I defrost. I will try frozen peaches. Oh, I can eat frozen strawberries. Is this okay?
Constipation after menopause is very real and is not alleviated with fiber. That is a myth. All fiber does is bulk the stool but does not help with motility.
Great sharing Lucie, lots of great suggestions. I'm french Canadian and I appreciate how the French culture in France are more intentional in their meals. Very much mediterranean style.😊
Lucie, would you please:) read my comments/requests in your previous video:) Would reallllly appreciate if you could make the requested videos! Thank you!!!
Yes Im struggling trying to loose now i’m 64 and can’t exercise like I used to and have an under active thyroid I’m going to see a specialist about that to see if there’s anything else going on with that like a hormone issue! Anyway i’m starting to eat as you mostly Vegan as I’m not crazy about meat but I’m also Anemic so I need iron i use a supplement for that. So I will continue on focusing on whole good foods! Any other suggestions?
That sounds great, and eat plenty of legumes for iron and protein and make sure incorporate regularly physical activity (like walking) into your daily life!
Collagen consumption in particular, becomes very important over 50 as collagen Synthesis diminishes as we age. I like a good collagen powder to add to my coffee.👍
