I've just got back into fishing after a 25 year break, I've been fishing the Staffs Worcester canal around Wombourne on the Wolverhampton AA waters, this has been so helpful and given me the confidence to elasticate my pole👍
Honestly it's been really helpful, I stared fishing again last I popped into my local tackle and came out with some basic tackle which I've built up over the last year I just go pleasure fishing which I enjoy so much.
Hey mate, when I packed in fishing and sold my gear when I moved to the Isle of Wight nearly 25 years ago, I knew there were no canals and I didn't think there was any coarse fishing here full stop. Anyway I found out today that there are in fact quite a few pools with fish in them, also there's an angling club here on the island.....but what excited me was finding out that they hold matches on their pools every Wednesday !! 😮 I'd love to give these matches a go, I feel a little bit confident that I could do well in them, even though I've been out of the game for 25 years and I don't actually own a pole or any gear at all for that matter. I don't suppose you've got an all round match pole that you want to sell have you mate?

Yeh I've been having a quick butchers on eBay but all the poles that were about back when I knew what was what are no longer around so I'm going into it blind now 😆 One pole that did catch my eye was a MAP 401 TKS 14.5 metre, although I have no idea what it's really like. It's a shame that you can't normally hire a pole and try it out because it's probably the most important piece of kit you'll buy and it's something that you need to get right. The trouble down here is that there are no proper tackle shops down here for me to try one out first and that just makes the whole task harder if you know what I mean
I use a connector on lighter elastics Because i tend to use lighter lines on these rigs and they are more prone to kinking. So a simple loop avoids this.
