This is amazing, thank you so much for all the effort you went to for this. You have covered all of my questions and more that I hadn't yet thought of. I also have ADHD so I struggle sitting through entire videos but everything was relevant and the information/tips were all presented in a very chronological way, so it kept my interest the whole way through. At the moment I'm only doing my first embroidery and I'm sewing purchased patches onto a jacket but this is the next step that I want to learn so I am writing a shopping list of the tools I will need for this next step. Thanks again.

When deciding where you want the design to go, I think it would be easier to turn the sweater inside out and then place the stabilizer. It eliminates the guesswork and finagling

what kind of marking device would you use on the super solvy if you were working on a dark fabric? or would you just not and use the stick and stitch one, instead

You can use a micron and it will still be slightly visible, but I’d recommend the stick and stitch for darker fabrics!

thank you so much!! this video is so clear and helpful. I especially appreciate the product recommendations-- there are so many different stabilizers out there, it's hard to know where to start. I have a question: when working with a product like super solvy and using a permanent marker (like a micron pen) to trace a design, do I have to worry about the black marker showing through the final embroidery piece if I use light colored threads? If anybody out there knows the answer or has thoughts/opinions, I'd love to hear them!

I don’t usually have a problem with it! You can always do a test swatch to see how everything will look before you commit to it though!

when applying the stabilizer, could you just apply it on the shirt inside out since the positioning would be the same when flipped back? would make it a lot easier to apply the stabilizer on the flat shirt inside out rather than trying to fit it through the neck hole

You’re welcome! For natural fabrics like cotton you won’t normally need it, but it its kind of thin it wouldn’t hurt to either double up the fabric or use a stabilizer if you’d like!

I'm getting into embroidery and I really want to try doing stuff with clothes. Do you have thoughts on the binders that go on the back of your work? Like the ones that you iron on that are supposed to help with texture and longevity?
@crewelghoul
@crewelghoul 3 года назад
I personally don’t have any experience with them. Whenever I embroider on clothes I double knot all of my threads and wash everything on delicate / hang dry them and it’s held up ok for me! But I’ll have to look into some different products and maybe do a comparison soon!
@marissakessler6489

@crewelghoul

I’m a beginner in embroidery but do have good sewing skill. Your videos are very helpful for me to get started. I want to know do I need to wash and heat dry the fabric/clothing before hand in case they may be prone to shrinkage. Are the threads and stabilizers shrink proof ? Thanks for your advice👍
@crewelghoul
@crewelghoul 2 года назад
So glad you find them helpful! I would definitely prewash the clothes. As for afterwards, it’s ideal to hand wash or delicate wash and hang dry anything you embroider on just to be on the safe side!
@barefacedquestions

Is the Pellon tear away stabilizer supposed to stay with the clothing? I mean, it looks like you just teared away the excess part, and the part that supported the embroidery was still there?

It usually mostly disintegrates once you wash it. It’s more so just to use while you’re stitching!
