It is not the lack of a wildlife sanctuary that is the problem sometimes but garden pests (ie the neighbourhood watch!) Great video. Thank you miss.

Why have gravel paths, at all? Keep the bare earth, and walk barefoot on it. You can plant all kinds of moss on the paths, to soften your walking!

Also be careful where u put your bird feeders, I found out the hard way when rats decided that they could have a free feed.

have you found any good place? i used to get big rats that came and tried to eat either my birds or the bird food but i built a shed to avoid having so much clutter near the birds and it has helped so far.... i still think they will go to the bird feeder though

Many good ideas here, thanks. Does the water in the pond bucket need to be replaced every few days to keep it fresh? Won't it get algae growing in it if it is not replaced regularly? I am not sure that rainwater is very clean as it is often polluted these days, in cities. What about using bottled spring water, or using an inline water filter attached to the hose to filter out pollutants in tap water? Also, how does wildlife access the water if the pond is full of plants?

@excavtrooper Great! I still do not know the answers.

You may well get algae in the first year while the water balances itself and if the bucket gets lots of sun. Make sure you use aquatic compost in the pots as this is low on nutrients which algae will feed on. I'd also add some oxygenating water plants too, to help balance it out as quickly as possible

What about mosquitoes?
@newtquestgames
@newtquestgames 3 года назад
@@kdhughes8580 Mosquitoes might do well initially but water beetles, dragonfly/damselfy larvae and more will feed on them. Newts will too if they can get into the bucket
