I put in "weathering track" into the search and it was "help" an avalanche of videos! I have no airbrush and this was the perfect solution, two different mediums three colours and easy to get hold of and very well explained and demonstrated, thanks for this.
Joe, like you I don’t own an airbrush and have painted my track by hand with a paintbrush. The next stage will be weathering the ballast when it goes down and your tutorial has given me the confidence to try out the humbrol powders. The effect you've produced is as good as any airbrush technique so thank you for sharing. Paul
A few years late to comment but I'm currently doing research on weathering before I tackle it myself after previous mistakes so this is nice and useful. Saves spending money on a airbrush given I only have a 6X4 layout
Great stuff. I've always loved the hands on approach of weathering and find that you get a more realistic look. Airbrushing is to me, to uniform - quick but doesn't look as good.. I'm going to be hand weathering mine using some of the techniques you do. I've got some other methods that will show the heavy oily grime you'd typically see. Thumbs up. Tim
