One time when i was a kid me and my mom and sister were walking around outside, and some guys accidently locked there car from the inside and cant get back in so they asked me as a little 8 year old to go through trunk and the small gap on top to unlock the car. Luckily i didn't get kidnapped and actual helped the people. Woop woop.

That little space where she needed to hide, even though the kidnapper was already far away, is also to calm her down to regain a sense of safety. We have no idea what could've happen to her that night, glad she's safe. This trunk kidnapping reminds me of that documentary of a woman kidnapped and put inside her car's trunk, but luckily she escaped before her car sank when the kidnapper drove it to a lake. I also learned from that documentary that every car made after 2001 has an emergency trunk latch to open the trunk from the inside.

Now im thinking "Why dont people from horror movies ever do this when kidnapped in a car?"

thanks! this vid probably saved my life. last weekend my dog woke me up from my sleep at Disney world and someone was trying to steal my car they made it over the golden gate bridge an thru Pennsylvania until i finally found the lever and ejected from my seat. the main parachute didn't work so i relied on my training (from this vid) to pull my reserve and safely swim away.

Back in the nineties when every car didn't have this I remember watching a daytime TV show with my mom (can't remember which one it was) where they had a police officer showing you how to get out of a car trunk. If you ever find yourself in the trunk of a car that does not have a safety release latch, start kicking at the corners of the trunk. It's possible to pop the tail lights out. Then you can reach your hand out and wave around. Anyone who sees that car driving is going to immediately know someone is in the trunk.
