In many places like NYC they are not even supposed to ask when you are applying for a job (see Ban the Box) . Also many times cases are dismissed but the court record of the arrest and final disposition of dismissed is listed ao it still shows you have a criminal record
I was arrested for trying to protect me and my girlfriend from an attacker. Cops came out and took his side. I was jailed an innocent man so am I supposed to make myself look like a dirt bag all because I was trying to protect us from this guy hitting me trying to steal my laptop?
I’m a victim of domestic violence so I can relate because I was arrested several times for defending myself. I would stay away from terms like “innocent” when speaking with potential employers. Even though we are victims you’ve got to still take ownership. Something like wrong place wrong time and I was just doing what anyone in my situation would do, protecting myself my girl and my property. Also showing that your case was not prosecuted provides that you are innocent without saying and playing up the victim role. It’s hard but don’t give up
What if you were innocent and got convicted, it happens. Are you supposed to just say I made a mistake and I take responsibility for my actions? Is it wrong to take ownership of a crime that you didn't commit? Would you still get hired if your a sex offender? My guess would be NO because that is the most controversial label affecting 800,000 men and women today. It doesn't matter how good you interview. I know some people in this situation and it is really sad that they have paid there debt to society and get released and can't get a job or a place to live especially if they are a low risk offender..
More and more people are finding out just how cold and forgiveless Britain really is, even though they claim to be a Christian country. They have no forgiveness in them whatsoever. Ex cons are refused jobs even after they have rehabilitated themselves and proven themselves trust worthy and have stayed out of trouble for years. This type of hypocrisy creates an anti-allegiance, ant-rule of law in people when it comes to their outlook of how they feel about this country. Whereas to give them a chance would create a positive attitude leading to a strong allegiance to this country and a positive attitude towards rule of law.
