Worked like magic ! After the factory reset - I was able to use my Nest mini in india which was originally from USA. All issues solved with this fix. Thanks brotha!
A helpfully simple presentation and it sorted a problem that Google nest sites didn’t ... thank you! Also, my glitch had started with not being able to switch the smart speaker to our new router using the Home app ~ so keeping WiFi connected wasn’t possible and your technique still solved our issue.
I've been hunting for more than a week now for someone to tell me how to factory reset the Google Nest Mini Second Generation, to no avail. Everyone just says, unplug it and plug it back in. For the umpteenth time this week, I decided to try again to find the answer and happened upon this video. Low and behold...it worked perfectly. Thank you so very much for posting this instructional video showing us how to reset the Nest Mini Second Gen. I'm a happy camper now. Awesome!

So how do I factory reset it if the wifi it was connected to no longer exists? I just moved and my old roommate got rid of that wifi and I have to try and connect it to my dad's place now but I can't factory reset it as I can't switch the wifi it's on.
First, you need to factory reset the hardware and then manually deregister it from your Google account. You should, then be able to setup the Nest Mini using a new wireless network. However, if your Nest Mini is registered with your roommate's Google account. Get them to do the following from within their instance of Google Home. 1. Open Google Home 2. Locate and Select your Google Nest Mini 3. When the Google Nest Mini panel opens, select the Settings icon 4. Within the Device settings panel scroll to the bottom of the list, and choose Remove device (remove from home, unlink) Once they have done this, you can then setup your Nest Mini, using your Google account and the Google Home app. Hope this helps.
Thanks a ton!!!! This was the solution I needed for the "could not communicate with your nest mini" problem. It would seem that whenever we are changing the wifi, it needs to be reset and then connected. And both 2.4 and 5.0 works for this too.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Connect it to Google home app enter your internet password then it comes up with an error that tells you it needs to be reset then try this it worked for me
Great video helped loads. Ours keeps disconnecting from internet and just goes off at random times..so hope this reset gives it a new lease of life again... Great video again.
I have a question so I am plugged in for a while but it did all this and I didn’t go onto the app and see if it was connected to Wi-Fi all that but it was before I shut it off so it should be good but I did all the stuff that it should’ve done like you said does that mean it’s factory reset
I had loads of problems connecting mine, all around permissions, this video worked, BUT, I had to uninstall my Home app, then installed it again from Google Play, then worked perfectly, phew, I also nearly chucked mine out the window. 🤣

How can I reset my speaker if it will not respond to any touch commands and it’s no longer recognized in the google home app...? Can’t do anything with mine at all and it keeps lighting up with 4 dots every few hours
Thanks a lot, since Google throttled their services "a bit" after I pinged their server too much, my Google Nest wouldn't work, but now all's well again!

According to Google there is another way, but it's tedious. - support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9837834 1. Unplug the power cable from your speaker. Wait for 10 seconds. Plug it back in, and wait until all 4 lights on the top illuminate. 2. Repeat step 1, 10 more times. 3. After you plug your speaker back in the final time, you'll need to wait a few moments for the device to reset. It will announce 'Welcome to Google Home. To get started, download the Google Home app on a phone or tablet,' to let you know that it’s ready for setup. Hope it works for you.
I can’t get past the part with the lights and it’s driving me crazy. Does anyone have any tips? I have the 1st Gen I believe (no wall mount), turn off the mic, but when I try to press and hold, nothing happens.

I don't think mine has a reset button. I've done exactly like this and I'm getting nothing. I'm not sure where else to press it and it's a second generation also so it should work but it's not
About minds from a yard sale and I'm trying to reset it and it's not doing how it's supposed to do I try to hook it up to the internet but none of this is not working so what should I do because I'm about to throw it in the garbage can I try to Bluetooth it to scan and everything but it ain't nothing working on my end
If the person doing the yard sale, did not de-authorise the Mini from their Google account. While you will be able to factory reset it and connect it to your Wifi network. You will not be able to connect it to your Google account. So the only option really is to go back to the person you bought it from and see if they can de-authorise the Mini from their Google Home account first.
